AC in the basement?
If you have a finished basement, do you have any sort of AC down there?
We're in the process of finishing our basement into a Family/TV Room. We have CAC upstairs, so I'm wondering if we should have a vent put down there (we don't have any windows, so I think CAC is the only option). It's not a large space & I think that they can put one somewhere in the stairwell going down. Do you think it's worth it?

Yes, we have CAC in our finished basement and it is wonderful. One of the biggest benefits of the CAC in the basement is that it helps to keep the humidity down. While the basement will naturally be cooler than the rest of the house without AC, the dehumidifying properties of the AC are really wonderful. If you already have CAC, I would definitely consider extending it to include the basement.
Also, IMHO, most basements don't stay cool enough to be comfortable throughout the summer. You'll spend more time in the air conditioned part of the house.

When I lived in my parents basement they had a unit put into the concrete (put a big hole in it and a huge AC) so if you can add a duct i certainly would and if you can put a thermostat even better. You can run it low down there and use it as your dehumidifier so it won't get humid down there.

Thanks ladies! We have a dehumidifier down there now, but I was thinking that it would be much better to have the CAC down there for that reason as well...Just the benefit of not having to empty it as often might make it worth it lol

When I get my CAC installed, I will definitely have them put ducts in the basement. No doubt.

I even think it will give you more of a return if you ever choose to sell.

We have CAC in our house and just had our basement finished. We had the contractors add vents to the existing ducts down there. So we have 2 vents. It works perfectly fine, no complaints here.
