Gotta vent for a sec re: closing

I have been waiting about a week and a half just to hear *something* about when we can close on our house.

We put Jul 30th in the contract, but we asked for the 15th. When we were up at the house 3 weeks ago, the homeowners said they could close earlier, which they knew we wanted. Great.

When we asked *officially* through lawyers-- I haven't heard jack shite after waiting a week and a half. My lawyer told me that their lawyer laughed when we asked for a firm close date since they don't usually get set so far in advance. Why is that so funny?? We are not doing a conventional bank mortgage so we don't need to wait for paperwork, and our seller is going to a rental. So, why wait?? Everyone just needs to pack and call movers.

I got my buyer asking me for a firm close date here. I have a floor guy, a contractor and other arrangements to schedule and all this stuff needs to be done in the few weeks before we move in.

Why is it so damn hard to give a firm date?!!! I have a feeling their lawyer is being a jackarse. Grrrr.

Same thing happened to us. Our "on or about" date was July 1, but the sellers kept asking us if we would be ready by June 17. We both kept telling our lawyers and they laughed at us. We finally pushed enough that they chose the date of June 17th anyway..haha.

We were getting very frustrated b/c to us it just seemed like 2 phone calls needed to be made to firm up a schedule and we could go ahead.....

I hear ya with the frustration. Just keep asking and they will get to it.
