Re: Is life going to be over...
To me, life was not over. I think it only really begain once I had Andrew. Its just something so hard to explain, its so different, and that's a good thing.

When you have a child together it is an unbelievable experience. Like you have a special secret that no one else is in on. It is unbelievable. I thought I loved my husband but when he became a father it blew me away with all new feelings of love for him

Re: Is life going to be over...
Reality really sank into us after the baby shower and now the nursery is almost ready. Sometimes we'll stop and say "wow this is real" DH can't wait to be a dad and I can't wait to be a mom.

You just have to figure out what your new "normal" is. It used to be happy hour and freedom, now it is Noggin and spaghettios.

I think my life is going to be better in so many ways
More busy and much less spontaneous, I'm sure...but that's OK.
Yes for us too. We have had all our fun doing the just me and him things. Now we want the family fun stuff too. I mean it's not like we are sitting down saying "oh I wish we got to do this before we had a baby" because we haven't. We have done so much together that I don't have any regrets. Will I miss my just get up and go lifestyle? Of course, I mean I am human but that's ok. I will just have to get used to my new scheduled life with a baby.
Exactly my thoughts
Ditto!
Same here

I also hate when people come to my house (which I'm anal about keeping clean and nicely decorated), and say "wow, your house is nice, enjoy it now because once the baby comes..."

Re: Is life going to be over...
I was just saying to DH today when we took Emily for a walk -- I feel like this has been my best spring ever. Having a little baby is hard at times and sometimes you do feel tied down. But it seriously makes you look at everything that is ordinary in a fresh new way and really makes you appreciate it all so much more.

I am not so much concerned with life being over as much as I am concerned with DH and I finding compatablity and closeness in our new roles. It has been the two of us for so long, I hope it is a smooth transistion.

Well said, Stacey! I've seen my husband cry 4 times. September 11th , our wedding day, and at the birth of our 2 sons. It truly is the start of a "new" and better life.

My other favorite is always when they tell me, "Prepare to not sleep again for another 18 years!" I always ask them, "Why? Did you not sleep at all last night?" That puts an end to that, too.
People did this to me last year when I was getting married, too. Telling me my life was over once I got married. People are just nasty and negative, and I choose to ignore them or feel sorry for them that they are so unhappy they feel the need to try to make me that way. Poo on them

The truth is ( for me anyways) having kids keeps you so busy all day you sleep even BETTER then you did before cause your pooped by the end of the night ( excluding the first few months of course)

Re: Is life going to be over...
DH and I were saying this the other day. Sarah's been with us for almost 14 months now, which really isn't that long a time period. We can't even remember what we used to do before she came along, and what we do remember seems so boring compared to now. I'm sure this sounds silly, but it really does get better and better each day, which I didn't feel before she was here. Watching them learn something new and then turning to you with such a look of self pride, there's nothing like it.

One of my co-workers asks me today. So are you ready for life to be over? I know your life changes when you have a baby but I didn't like that comment. I hate it when they say things just to scare you! How annoying!
IMO- my life has just begun

For me I wouldn't say that life begin when I had my baby, it has just gotten so much better than I could've ever imagined it.

We have a 4 year old & a 2 year old. We are still amazed at how much we love them. We talk about it all of the time. Stacey said it best. It is like having a special secret between you & your husband. It may be because no one else wants to hear at naseum jokes about how Maddie refers to her armpit as an armpickle or it could be that I know that there is one person in this world that feels exactly the same as I do for our child. Whatever the reason, Janice - the minute Leo spends an extra minute putting pigtails in your daughter's hair or you catch him slowdancing with his son, you'll fall deeper in love than ever before.

Of course it's not going to be over. Maybe life as you currently know it but so what? That's the beauty of life - it's ever changing and growing. I laugh when people say stuff like that.

Stacey!! AMAZING WORDS !! Having a baby is truly the most amazing experience EVER in life. The day your child is born is a heavenly bliss of emotions, both mommy and daddy trying to digest it all, the powerful and outrageous rollercoaster that just touched ground and left you with the most precious baby in your arms, all yours....those eyes, those feets, those little hands, that little mouth...
