Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
After 10 months of ttc... I have a Clomid consult with my doctor in two weeks. My cycles have been wacky since coming off bc.. but in the last few months, seem to be leveling out (O on CD19 and finally had EWCM the last two months.. LP has gone from 10 days consistently to 12-14 days).
My question is... What will clomid do for me if I already O??
Thanks, Kate

stronger, more eggs, and it will increase your progesterone level which really needed to be above 15 to sustain a pregnancy. Good luck! It takes 3-4 months to work. Got my bfp on month 3

Did you O on your own before taking Clomid?? Did it make you cycles wacky?? I worried about that since my cycle seem to just be leveling out.

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
I O'd on my own. Always got a postive on the opk every month at the correct time. Had very regular cycles every 31 days like clockwork. Af always lasted for 5 days, nothing abnormal. After blood tests my progesterone level before clomid was only coming back at 10.5 sometimes 11.5. SO Dr. gave me 50 mg of clomid. Took 3 months for my progesterone levels to climb to 37!!!!!!! Hence month 3 on clomid I was preggo. It didnt mess up my cycles... changed my cycles by a day or two. Nothing major. Keep in touch if you need anyone to talk to. Best of luck.

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
I was on BC for 10years. waited 3 months before TTC after coming off. Cycles were fine until month 4 and then they started going wacky. I was ovulating b/c I was keeping track with the CBEFM monitor, but had long cycles, then sometimes short.
SO i dont really know. My GYN suggested a clomid IUI cycle before starting testing..a little backwards?? yes? but it worked.
the clomid supposedly makes you ovulate in 14 days (but thats not always the case b/c I didnt ovulate until day 16). It will make your ovaries feel like they're going bonkers b/c it makes them produce more better quality eggs.
I would try it..you have nothing to lose really.

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
Thanks everyone... Im nervous about this step, but after 10 months, I think it is time. The progestrone aspect may be my problem, since my LP was always 10 days then the last three months were 13,14 and 12 this last month... so I dont think my levels have been consistent. We shall see... Thanks for all the kind words. Kate

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
I was ovulating on my own and went on clomid - my cycles were very whacky after going off birth control and were not stabilizing even after almost a year. I was ovulating and my bloodwork was fine too - I just had long and unpredictable cycles so my OB put me on clomid to try to regulate me. I only took it for one month and it actually didn't work to move up my ovulation date, but I did get a BFP eventually in that cycle so maybe it helped in other ways. Who knows.

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
I always o'd but had a short LP (7-8 days)
I went on 50mg of clomid for one month and it gave me ONE follicle (so no, it does not always give you multiple folicles)
I then did the trigger shot on CD13 and got pregnant on the first month of clomid
Good luck

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
anything is possible but research says usually month one and two are trial for adjustments to figure out correct dosage and days. If its going to work it should work by month 3 or 4. All I was trying to say is dont give up hope after the first month.

Re: Anyone take Clomid who DID O on thier own?
I O on my own and have been taking Clomid since February. The Clomid makesme produce 3-5 follicles (so it basically increases the # of targets for the sperm to hit). Everyone produces a different # of follicles and my dr said the target was to produce 1-2 follicles on 50mg of Clomid. I had no side effects from the Clomid.
Good luck!
