Anyone ever get a comforter dry cleaned?
My comforter set says Dry Clean Only.
I seriously think I could wash it with no problems to the fabric, but it's WAY too big to fit in my washing machine and dryer anyway.
Has anyone had a comforter dry cleaned before?
Was it super expensive?

we had it dry cleaned for $35. we only have it cleaned once a year - really, how dirty does a comforter get?  so it's not bad. but i would love to be able to just put it in the washer.
actually i would really love to ruin it in the washer and get a new one  MIL bought it for us and i hate it.

we do - DH takes it b/c there is no way i can carry it so im not sure how much it is b/c he pays for it - i want to say between $30-$50

I bring mine to the laundromat & wash it on delicate and hang it to dry- and have done this once a month since we got it over a year ago
there is also a chain called one price dry cleaner, you can goggle for locations- they are really reasonable for everything- I think it was only like $20 for comforters

My king comforter says dry clean only and I paid $40 to have to cleaned a few months ago. My DH was sick and sweating a lot and it started to smell so I just dropped it off at a laundromat and they cleaned it for $15 in the regular wash and it turned out fine. I have also washed it previously in the laundromat and had no trouble with it.

I've had several "dry clean only" comforters over the years and I have washed most in my own washing machine on delicate and let them air dry. I couldn't go a month, let alone a year. I guess we're stinky sleepers haha

i have a king sized bed--there's no way that thing is fitting in the washer! we have it dry cleaned about once a year. it was around $40.

We have a down comforter that I take to the laundromat once a year and wash...I put it in the dryer on low with a couple tennis balls to dry.
I've had it for 5 years and it looks fine.

I tried to wash it on my own- BIG mistake though. It was too big for the washer and the washer didn't spin right- thne there was water leaking on the floor  (not sure what THAT was about)
Then it was too big for the dryer and we tried air drying it- but it didn't dry right and stunk like puke  after that. (I guess it was mildewy)
So off to the dry cleaner it went- my local place charged $34... I pick it up tomorrow so we'll see how it comes out.

Luckily my king sized comforter can fit in my washing machine and dryer. I can't see paying a dry cleaner $30+ dollars every few months.

I got fed up taking it to the dry cleaners and took my chance with the feather/down comforter in our washing machine - it's fine...I have been doing in monthly/semi-monthly for 5+ years

we always DC our comforters. DH is obsessed with the idea that comforters are too big for the washer (they are not) and they will damage the washer (they will not.)
it usually costs 20-25 per comforter
