Re: laying on my right side.
I'm 37 weeks and still sleep on my right side. I'm more comfortable that way.
Sleep however your are comfortable. Your body will tell you when you can't do that anymore.

Re: laying on my right side.
I alternate too. Sometimes I wake up and my left side hurts from being in that position - I have to turn over. I am 37 weeks too

Just an FYI, sleeping on your right or on your back does nothing to the baby. It's more about you, and the weight of the uterus and baby against the vena cava artery (I hope I'm explaining it correctly!) which could cause breathing problems for you during sleep. However, your body WILL let you know if there's a problem and you will wake up.
I'm naturally a left sided sleeper, but every since getting pregnant, for whatever reason, I'm more comfortable on my right.
The only problem I do have is when I have to get up to pee, I have to roll back over to my left to get out of bed and it's VERY VERY difficult at this stage of my pregnancy.

I switch throughout the night also......if I stay I on my left side for too long, I get numb. That's not fun.

Re: laying on my right side.
I try to lay on my left side mostly but then I get sciatic nerve pain eventually, and I have to roll over to the right side. I alternate throughout the night. Oh and my hands keep falling asleep too - fun!!

Re: laying on my right side.
According to my DR it's fine. He said the only thing to avoid is the back, but that either side is really fine.

i switch throughout the night too....left or right...
as mrsrbk said - the weight of everything puts pressure on a vein that runs to your heart...that's the problem with laying on your back...
