Bottles
What bottles are you registering for? I am having such a hard time deciding. The ones I registered for in the stores all got bad customer reviews online.

i'm going with Avent... I'm leaning towards an Avent Pump - because a close friend RAVED about them (and she had tried all the others)...
but i did also register for a 2 pack of Dr. Browns... I've heard great things about those too - but that they are notoriously hard to clean.

I was planning on using born free but i am now going to use dr. brown. My sisters peditrician made her change to dr. Brown he says they are the best ones to use.

i wouldn't get just one kind, because it's really a trial and error thing. every baby is different. i would get one bottle of a few different brands, and try them before buying more.
i tried SO many with DS (avent, playtex drop-ins, nuby, born free) and the one that agreed most with him was dr. browns. so... 15 months later we are STILL cleaning those things twice a day  but they work like a charm...

Dr. Browns....I must have gotten at least 3 suggestions from people to use them. I didn't hear though that they were hard to clean...I actually have cleaned some in the past for nephews and don't remember a problem......also got a few single Avent's...every baby is different

the dr. brown's aren't so difficult to clean if you invest in the little box that allows you to put all the bottle parts in the dishwasher. this worked like a charm for me, BUT i didn't start giving bottles regularly until DS was 5-6 months old, when he was eating a little less frequently. i imagine that with a newborn who is eating every 2-3 hours it would be harder unless you get many bottles and run your dishwasher a few times a day.
having said that, if the dr. brown's bottles are the ones that work for your baby, you do what you have to do... i'd clean bottles all day rather than have a gassy, miserable baby...

i totally agree with this. i started with the Avents for DD and we had to switch to the playtex ventair ones.
i plan on trying to again start with the Avent and we'll see how it goes. but i definately recommend having at least one pack of a back up. AND DONT OPEN UP ALL THE PACKS!!

Dr. Browns are hands down the best for preventing/alleviating gas.
With advent you can literally see the gas bubbles going into the baby's mouth

The issue here is that we don't have a dishwasher... We do plan to move within the next 2 years - but for now - we do all dishes by hand...

Thanks ladies, I think I'll register for a couple of the different types mentioned here. I also plan on trying to BF so I will look for a started kit that includes some bottles as well.

going for the Glass bottles...
there are only 3 options Evenflo(alot of reviews say gassy baby's), Born Free(pricy) and...Dr. Browns which I am getting... yes there are extra pieces to clean but i dont feel like paying the price of the born free ones...
I still need to get some bottles for when the baby goes to daycare and will probably pick out a plastic set of BPA free ones..

Playtex. I used them with DS, they are great no sterilizing the bottle part! and they have no BPA either. They are plastic, but you only use the liners once.
