Proactive and moisturizer?
SO I got Pro-Active for Christmas and so far it's ok...not great, but not bad. I have small acne around my chin and lips, nose area so it's sorta helping, but the rest of my face looks much nicer. My question is it is REALLY drying out my chin, nose, lip area and I need a moisturizer. What do you girls recommend? I was thinking Clinique Dramaticly Different........HELP!!!

Re: Proactive and moisturizer?
I am a firm believer in going to your dermatologist for ANY skin situations -- I had *HORRID* skin for about ehhhh 2, maybe 3 years tops when I was a teenager. I tried everything under the sun and going to the doctor is what finally worked for me -- and the right doctor, of course. My first doc gave me pills! They did nothing and then I went to my current doc and she literally took the pills and tossed them, started me on Differin Gel at night, Klaron lotion during the day (under my make-up - totally flawless, never felt it) along with OTC Neutrogena Oil-Free Anti Acne Wash (white, squeeze bottle top, bright orange color bottle). For a moisturizer, she recommended Curel OR Aveeno. Curel is what worked best for me but everyone is different...
My doc's name is Dr. Donna Serure and she is in Smithtown -- she was able to dramatically change my skin/acne situation in TWO weeks after I suffered for almost 3 years. She is on Middle Country Road. Once she gets you on the right stuff FOR YOU and for YOUR skin then you'll be good and it is not like you will have to go back to the doc over and over again.
The main problem with recommending specific topical lotions is that what works for some may not work for others. So, while what I used was the best thing to ever happen to me your skin might be totally different -- which is why I recommend the doc.
I hope that helps!! Update us and let me know how you make out - whatever you decide to do!

Re: Proactive and moisturizer?
ProActive sells an oil free moisturizer.
I will say.. I tried ProActive about 2 months ago. I think my skin is a mess, but I'm a lunatic.. my friends and family tell me I'm nuts and my skin is fine... but again, I'm a lunatic..lol Anyway, 2 things I will tell you...
A. When I first started using the ProActive my skin dried out... but then my skin balanced out and stopped getting so dry.. (this took about 2/3 weeks)
B. CVS sells a "generic" ProActive... it's called Acne Free... basically almost identical ingredients to ProActive. It's only $20, so I bought it a few days ago. I've been uising it for 2 days now and my skin looks better.
Just a thought... if you like ProActive and don't want to spend the money on it when you run out.. maybe give Acne Free a try....

I also use AcneFree and it doesn't dry out my skin like ProActive did.
