Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
so was I. I took a friend who recently had twins and she basically told me what to get. I'm going to attempt to research some of the stuff I registered for and then go back and change them if I find something better. I would definitely say take a friend or someone who can help it is very overwhelming!!!!!!!

OMG... I was thinking the same thing. Way to overwhelming. I took a friend who has a child. That may help if you have any close girl friend's with kids.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
Kelly, the must have guide for you is Baby Bargains....they have parents review thousands of products in every area & give you the most up to date scoop. There is the 2008 one, I don't think 2009 will be out until April. It's GREAT though for everything from rattles to nursery furniture.

Definitely go out and buy the book, Baby Bargains. It is the bible of baby gear. It gives reviews and descpriptions and breakdowns of everything from bottles to sheets to strollers. It will help you immensely in the registry process.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
honestly 90% of our items were recommendations from friends plus certain items I looked up the reviews for (ie high chair, car seat, etc).

Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
i know! i just posted the same thing yesterday! i don't even know the basics of what i need so i can't even start researching the different products (which seems like a second job in and of itself). my mom said she'd go with me, but even she's a little overwhelmed by all the new stuff that's out since me and my sisters were born.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
I was the first of my friends to get pregnant. I felt completely overwhelmed with registering. Baby Bargains helped tremendously. I narrowed down the big ticket items based on the reviews and then checked out the 2 or 3 brands in the store. I also looked at reviews on here and the BRU website.

Re: I am completely overwhelmed...
totally agree about getting the baby bargains book. in my case, i had started the registry before i knew about the book.
here is what i did:
we decided that we were going to register for the big ticket items first ( big items such as the stroller, the car seat, infant seat, play pen, activity things like the jumpers and bouncy seats ) we figured that would take up a lot of time b/c we those are the things that you stare at and test out before you scan it.- it pretty much took up the whole time we were there.
we then decided to do all the little items ( the ones you mainly find on the outside parameters of the store) on the next trip. those items were things such as the diaper bag, the bottles, the onesies, the pacifers, the tub, the lotions, the crib sheets etc. all the things that dont require that much choosing... but believe me, it did take a lot of time!!!
i highly recmd. splitting up the trip. one for the big items, and then for the little items. and when you get home, you can look up your registry and click on items and read reviews. for ex. i found that one of the play pens i registered had 9 out of 10 negative reviews on the babies r us site from other moms...so i changed it online. its best to pick what you like and then get an idea if the product by the reviews and other people's advice..
good luck!!!!!hth! and dont worry! we were all in your shoes- completely overwhelmed!!
