Did I ever tell you that I hate people?

Did you do your research?

I'm just curious if you researched the different medical options/treatments before you started...

I am very surprised with the amount of people who jump in with both feet and seem to know nothing about their body, the procedures, and what is to come....

Re: Did you do your research?

ad nauseum! I drove my husband crazy. I wanted to be able to sit with the RE and KNOW and understand what he was talking about. For me, it helped cushion the blow of seeing the RE and moving onto more aggressive means to getting pregnant.

Re: Did you do your research?

Yes, ridiculously so. It took me 2 years to venture into IVF territory because I wanted to try every other possible option first. I went into this with my eyes well versed.

Yes, I feel that I did/do. I need to know everything up front, and prepare for it the best that I can. Then when the time comes, just take it 1 day at a time so not as to get overwhelmed. Chat Icon

Re: Did you do your research?

After I had been TTC unsuccessfully for about 5 or 6 months, I started doing some preliminary research on IF - causes, treatments, conditions, etc. I went for my regular check-up with my ob-gyn about that same time and she suggested that I start fertility testing.

While I started my testing with my ob-gyn, I had done enough research to know that if any "red flags" came up, then I wanted to go straight to an RE - which I did.

It's definitely been a learning processs and every day I seem to learn something new - many times from this board! However, I feel confident that I have been properly informed on each step that I have taken.

Re: Did you do your research?

Absolutely yes! I remember when I suspected I had PCOS over 10 yrs ago when there was hardlya anything online about it. I didn't even talk to my idiot ob/gyn about it. I went right to Dr. Brenner.

We're very lucky to live in a time where this information is easily accessible.

Re: Did you do your research?

to an obsessive level. I too am a bit amazed and perplexed when I see people not understand the basic functions of how TTC, IF and Advanced treatments work ..

I mean no one just KNOWS this stuff, but a few goggle research searches or a book can tell you a lot!

Re: Did you do your research?

To some extent. I refuse to become obsessed and have IF take over my life. I knew I would have trouble TTC long before I even met DH.

Re: Did you do your research?

Yes I feel that I truly did. DH thought I was nuts at times & was very impressed when we first met with the RE bc I was very knowledged in what he was explaining to us.

Re: Did you do your research?

Compulsively, to the point where it made me crazy and I obsessed over every little thing, so I have kind of backed away a little.

Re: Did you do your research?

Yes of course but I think when you are new to it, it can be very overwhelming and it helps to ask questions...I know for me I can read a million different things on the internet but it really helps to "talk" to people on here. Chat Icon

Re: Did you do your research?

When I was pregnant with my son and found out that I had a genetic disorder I knew that I would have trouble again getting pregnant. But like a stubborn mule I tried to TTC for a year without seeing an RE.

Once I decided to see an RE I did some research on here to see what people's issues where and no one had the same issue as me at the time (my issue is like one in 700 ppl) so, I had to do online research and brought a bazillion questions with me to the RE. I don't think the RE like me very much after that Chat Icon

Re: Did you do your research?

Definately. I could probably go to school to be an ob/gyn and pass with flying colors!Chat Icon

But to be serious- I did so much research throughout the last 10 years because I had no other choice. I was in constant pain. Than I found out I also had PCOS. I did my research and found out about Metformin. I wanted to go on it but my ob wouldn't put me on it. I kept pestering her about it and finally decided the only way I would get further was if I went to an RE. So I researched them. Chat Icon

Re: Did you do your research?

6 months after my ectopic, I started my research. I found this site very helpful because many of the girls lead me in the right direction. I became obsessed with research. You should of seen me when I would interview REs, I would walk in with my IF bible.

I researched non stop for 15 months before finally deciding to do IVF. At times I think I was overly informed about things.
