when will you Christen your baby???

AND HAVE YOU SPOKE TO THE CHURCH YET?

Im 22 weeks on wednesday, and because of when my is due,(end of Dec/beginning of Jan) i will either have to Christen her right away, (in the first 2 or 3 months) or wait until after Easter because of Lent and everything...they dont baptize during March and April this year...so in May shell be 5 months old...
do you think i should do it before or after Lent? and, should i be speaking to the office yet about arrangements???

I haven't spoke to anyone in the church about christening my son. I'm probably going to wait until the weather is a bit warmer to do it. So i'd say 5-6 months or so.

You don't have to talk to them yet about it. I did a 2 months before we christened him.

We having this baby in Jan. I would like to Christen the baby right away this time.

I can't deal with that now.... too much to do BEFORE Scone comes. Baptisms don't require the same amount of foresight as a wedding, since several kids are baptized simultaneously...

I also have relatives who temporarily have minor visa issues, and I want to wait for those to be cleared up with the US embassy prior to planning the baptism. I figure Scone shouldn't be below 3-4 months, otherwise it will be too difficult with the whole feeding/peeing / sleeping issues. (both him and us )

baby's due early March but I'd like to wait until July or August so we can have an outdoors party and I have the summer off.

Our baby is due the end of February, I was thinking in May so 3 months.

We are baptizing our in January. She will be a little over 3 months old.

With DD we christened her at about 2.5 months old. We went to schedule the Baptism at the church 1 week after she was born.

ETA:if it's important to you to have her Baptised when she's really young, then do it right away. I have an heirloom Christening gown that I want DD#2 to also wear, so it has to be done before she's 3 months old.

DD#2 is due in November, so we'll likely Christen her before February.

At my church you have to attend a class before your child can be baptized. My dd was born in sept and we waited until feb b/c of all the holiday hussle and bustle. This baby is due in feb and probable going to do in may/jun when the weather gets nicer, unless there is a reason I feel I need to get the baby baptized sooner.

Baptisms CAN occur during Lent- but every church has their own policy. My church does not Baptise during Lent either, but I know others that do.

Check with your parish to make sure.

We also had to attend a class to prepare for the Baptism.

with DD she was about 3 1/2 months. It worked out good because it was nice enough to have it in our backyard. With the twins being born in November, I won't be able to wait until summer, but at the same time we have to schedule around:

- when the in laws can fly up from florida
- when DH is home
- schedule around cousins wedding, christmas, newyears, superbowl, DD 2nd bday etc etc.

Our baby is due in February and we will most likely christen him/her in May...we haven't even thought of speaking to our church about it yet...

We are still undecided about this, we are due in Sept and are not sure if we want to have the christening in Nov, or Dec or Jan.

My son was baptized when he was 6 weeks. I would like to do this baby around that time, but it falls around christmas...so I think I may have to wait a little longer...

I'm hoping May or June. I have not spoken to the church I will wait until DS is born.

We christened Ava at 4 weeks. She was born in July, we did it mid August.

Baby Brody is due Sept 12th, the Christening was going to be mid-October, but that is when SIL is due with her DS, so we are now booked for November 15th. So, he will be about 8 weeks old.

We booked a Hibernian Hall that is not far from the church. We are doing chocolate brown and ivory linens, with the tables decorated in faux leaves and gourds. The favors will be brown satin pouches filled with Hershey Kisses.

We are getting a DJ that caters to kids- he is great!! We will have about 60 adults and 20 kids.

We are torn. DD is due the end of October. Money is tight, so we will either wait until she is about 3 months and have her Baptism at the end of Jan. so that we will have our tax return $ to throw a small gathering at a KOC hall, since our house is way too small to have party that big [inside] OR we will wait until the warmer weather when we could have a home outside party [with a tent]. We're not sure yet, but I think I'd rather do it in Jan/Feb and have her party at a hall- so much less work!

You can call the church whenever you want. Most churches require that you go to a class, and they prefer you do that while still pregnant as it's less for you to do after the baby is born. You can fill out the paperwork and pick a date before your child is born. Then all you have to do is call them when the baby is born to give them a name.

I used to work for a church and we did this all the time. They also used to Christen during Lent, so definitely check with your church about that policy.
