Sleep positioners
Are sleep positioners necessary? I feel like I read recently that they are not good and/or not needed. We are trying to purchase any remaining items on our registry and we unsure whether or not to pick this up... Any insight?

Re: Sleep positioners
I've heard they are actually unsafe! the baby can slip downwards while it sleeps and then the sides can suffocate them like a bumper.....

Re: Sleep positioners
I had one and used it for about a week before I realized it wasn't working for us...my daughter was a mover (she rolled front to back in the nursery of the hospital!) and liked to scoot around her bassinet...I would find her moved down so that her head was between the part for her body...I won't use it again with this baby either

I have read the same. I personally would not use it. I did not with my DS and I will not with this baby.

there was no other way to get my son to sleep other than to use one. he didn't sleep AT ALL on the mattress until we got one. ever since then, it's been much better!
don't get one until you see what your child needs and if he needs one at all. we knew right away we needed one--and it had a fake heartbeat which also helped.
this is what we got and at 6 weeks DS still uses it every night. i am not concerned AT ALL about his safety--it's no different than if his face went into the mattress sheet.
never say never......
