I need help with my chart . . .

I just started charting for the first time this month, and not even from CD1. I am a little confused about what i am seeing. I did use an OPK and on CD 17 got a positive. However, I am not getting the cross-hatching. I was going to just override and put in my O-day as CD17 based on the OPK, but am not sure if this is the right thing to do. I am not sure if I am reading it correctly. If anyone can offer me some assistance, I would appreciate it. TIAChat Icon

Are you using a basal thermometer?

I think FF is not confirming an O date because technically, you've only had two temperatures higher than the previous six. I'd wait to see what it says after tomorrow's temp - it looks to me like CD20 is a more plausible O date based on EWCM and a clear and sustained temp rise. Remember, just because you've gotten a +OPK doens't mean you've ovulated. OPK's measure a surge in LH and it's possible to have it and not actually ovulate. Did you do any other OPK's after the positive?

Yes, I am using a basal thermometer. I have not done another OPK. Should I do another tonight?

I'm also thinking that CD 20 is your O date.

I know that for me, I O the day after my second +OPK which would be CD 19 for you - so CD 20 doesn't seem that far off.

If CD 20 is your O date, then it won't give you your crosshairs until tomorrow (3 days of high temps).

Ugh . . . I think I screwed up this month, which I guess might be normal for a first month. Thinking we were basing on CD 17, I thought we were in good shape. Maybe not so much now. Chat Icon

Did you BD within 5 days of CD20? If so then you're not out yet!

Also, what happened with the temp on CD19? Did you take it earlier or later than normal and how far off was your timing?

Re: I need help with my chart . . .

The off temperature was 35 minutes earlier, because I just woke up on my own at that time and new I wouldn't be going back to sleep for another 3 hours or more.

We every night up to CD 18 then CD19-CD 21 we were so busy and getting in so late that there was no BDing Chat Icon

However, I just looked back at my own journaling of temps and on one day, the thermometer seemed to be taking forever without beeping. I got a temp of 96.96. This was after about 4 minutes. I decided to start over and got a reading of 97.24. Because I was uncertain of which temp to keep, I kept the first of 96.96, even though the thermometer never beeped. I just went back to see what would happen if I plugged the second higher temperature instead, and I got my lines. If you look back at my chart that I posted, you can see what it looks like if I use the second temp instead.

Since the thermometer never beeped, and all I did was lie in bed half asleep the entire time I was taking my temp, do you think the second temp is more accurate?

I'm not sure it makes a difference - FF likes it, but the temp on CD18 is still not earlier than the previous six.

Can you use the data corrector to adjust the CD19 temp and see what it says?

Ok, I put it back to the way it was originally and I used the temperature corrector for CD 19.

I am really very confused about what to do with my CD 20 temp, because the thermometer never beeped after 4 minutes, so when I just pulled it out of my mouth, it was 96.96, but I do not know if it froze, if it never beeped because it hadn't finished yet . . . .

Right now if I keep the first temp reading the graph does not show ovulation.

If I use the secomd temp reading, where the thermometer actually beeped that it was done, it shows ovulation, so I really don't know what to do . . . .Chat Icon

Oh, well, there's really no way to tell Chat Icon I wuold keep the higher temp in if it makes you feel better - but just be aware that you might've ovulated as early as CD17 or as late as CD20. There's not much that can be done about it now anyway! Welcome to the 2WW! Chat Icon

Re: I need help with my chart . . .

Thank you Chat Icon For CD 20, I pretended that I never took my temp at 5:55 am (where the thermometer did not beep.) I Put the second temp of 97.24 into the temp corrector at a time of 5:59. It gave me 97.23, so that is what I will use. I will keep in mind the range of CD17- CD20. And now, the 2WW begins . . . .

My thermometer has taken as long as 6 minutes before beeping. Unfortunately you just need to wait it out.

The day you get a +OPK is typically not your O date. The +OPK detects the surge of LH, meaning you're likely to O 24-36 hours later.
