I am offended
Ugliest dog contest...dk how to do links..the poor three legged crested..I hate these contests.
humiliation for $500.00.
I think hes beautiful and take him home.
A chinese crested ws the the first dog I looked at to get.
I also hated the other crested that one that ws elderly--with the bad teeth that won last year or so...I found cuteness in him too...
people suck...I know i guess its a joke but jmho---not funny

I don't really find it offensive. These owners love their dogs to death. The dog doesn't know its "title." It gets a lot of attention and loving, what dog doesn't love that? Its just a stupid thing.
If it was a human child, then I would find it distasteful and offensive, but a dog... I don't know.

I agree.
What bothers me is I feel the owners are betraying their pets somehow, by entering them in the contest as some sort of freak show. That saddens me. I would never want the world laughing at how "ugly" my dog is b/c that is what will happen.
Maybe I am just too sensitive about animals...

ITA - Some dogs are just so damn ugly that they're cute. Doesn't mean someone doesn't love and take care of them .........

Doesn't bother me. Dogs don't know. They aren't vain. They just care how each others butt smells. It seems to me that their owners love them for their looks.

those articlesI think shows kids its ok to make fun...but wht do I know...
for arguements sake...your kid reads it...what do you say? it was for fun?

Ok, now that's just plain sick. Anyone who would intentionally hurt their animal by letting them get sunburned so they can be "more ugly" is just plain cruel.
As for the contest itself, I'm not really offended... I agree with an AP who said there some dogs out there that are just ugly their cute. I think that's this situation.

that contest upsets me very much so as well. i think it is so meanhearted.
i have a chinese crested and many may think she is ugly and that is their opinion, i personally think she is beautiful.
i get offended when ppl say to me "shes so ugly, shes cute" or "she looks like one of those dogs in the ugly dog contest"
