BCP users

Just curious as to what your experience was like going OFF of the pill.

I'm having such issues just THINKING about it! I've been on it for so long and I love how my period comes like clockwork, I never have cramps and I rarely get zits. Here I am, back to the real world! I don't even remember what it was like to have cramps!

Although one good thing may occur- my sex drive might finally pick up again!

I went off in mid-Jan. HGot my period Jan 30 and Feb 29. Then didnt have it again til first week in May and then 2nd week in June. It def took my body some time. I "planned" to already be PG by July and i NEVER thought id have to deal w/ adjusting the way i did.

My suggestion? Go off NOW and use condoms til youre ready to ttc.

This is my third cycle off of the pill and the first in which we are really TTC. I had no problems going off the pill and my cycles have been regular, a little short (24 days), but regular. We shall see how TTC goes.

Went off BCP in January. Periods come every month, but they're on the long side...I've averaged 34 days since, with no 2 months being the same exact duration. It's been a headache to track my cycle. ( I was on BCP for 10 years, and was regular prior to using). This is our 1st month of really trying, who knows...

I agree with the poster who said go off and use condoms until you're ready, especially if you're "planning" to conceive around a particular time of the year.

I went off in March and it has been fine. The only thing that stinks is that I haven't been the most regular since I stopped taking BCP.

I went off in March and waited one cycle until we started TTC. (I'm in cycle#2 now...)

I was lucky in the sense that my period was only a few days later than I expected. (prior to the pill I was very regular at 28 days) My last 2 were 32 days.

My only issue was my PMDD (like a severe PMS) being on the pill for years I had actually fogotten all about it. The first cycle off was hell but it's gotten much, much better.

Other than that my skin hasn't been too bad and my periods aren't that much heavier.

I went off the pill in February and my periods were immediately regular! I went right back to my 28-29 day cycle!! The biggest PLUS was I haven't had any migraines since being off the pill!! Its HEAVEN!! On the downside i broke out like a 13 year old- acne like no other!!

I really didn't want to go off BCP because I had a very light AF the whole time on it, no cramps, no moodswings etc.. Obvs I HAD to get over that bc I need to get a BFP..lol..

but coming off, my periods regulated right away and were'nt too heavy..cramps not as bad as I feared. so it wasn't too bad. but like you, i was VERY nervous..

I stopped the pill back in November, having been on them for over 6 years. Since then my cycles have been anywhere from 27-30 days (pre pill they were very irregular).
I do get cramps now although they are so mild I cant complain. My breasts also get very sore before hand which rarely happened on the pill. My sex drive has gone up also. The only negative thing about being off the pill is the acne. I have been breaking out on both my face and back. But the acne on my face is clearing up. Good luck!

I just got really bad acne and AF skipped 2 months after getting off (not consecutive though). I feel pretty normal for getting off of such a strong hormone.

i was on bcp for about 7 years and went off last year. i was nervous about it as well. my periods were regular before and they took a few months to regulate but they are regular now. some months i get bad cramps and some months nothing. my periods are longer but not too bad. the best part was the increase in sex drive! i did not have a hard time tracking AF after the first month. i was temping and could tell by my temp drop when it would come.

I went off the pill in March. I lost 5 pounds pretty quickly. My hair seemed more oily. My cycles were irregular before the pill and I'm pretty sure I ovulated a week late that month. I was also more irritable, but since I got pregnant that month, my moodiness could've been from that. Good luck!

I'm glad you posted--I am so worried about the same thing. I absolutely love being on BCP and can't imagine going back to the cramps and heavy periods I had before going on BCP.

Hey Tara! I came off the pill in December- my cycle used to be crazy irregular pre-pill (like every 3-4 months!!!).....so I was nervous what would happen after being on the pill for 10 years......the first month off I was 10 days late getting Aunt Flo......then the next month I was 30 days late!!! I started using www.mymonthlycycles.com to keep track of my crazy cycle, and now it averages my cycle at 41 days.....it has some great tools!! don't be afraid to come off the pill!! I used to have horrible cramps and I haven't had any since coming off!!!

i just went off them in may and so far so good...i did get my period actually earlier than i thought the first month and i have no idea what this month will bring...never knew about an increase in sex drive although that does explains somethings... my period was much longer with the bcp

ugh I hope this doesn't mess me up by having AF come during our anniversary trip!! Now I'm going to really have to stock up on tampons! I'm gonna miss having such a light, easy and short period.

I'm a little nervous that I should have gone off the pill earlier. Oh well, I'll deal!!

Tara I went off 3 months ago, not b/c I'm TTC but I love being off it. I will admit I looked like a pizza face the 1st month, but my periods are actually lighter, and shorter (thats sort of why I went off after 8 years, it was lasting almost 14 days!) It seriously was the best thing ever. i also feel a lot happier, dont know if that has anything to do with the pill, but I don't get all grumpy anymore when its coming on

I was on BCP for 7 years before coming off last summer. I didnt really have any problems with my cycle, it stayed pretty regular.
