sponges shouldn't skeeve you out....

just put them in the dishwasher with every run... they come out super clean and sanitary Chat Icon

I buy only marcal papertowels... they are the only reasonably priced brand that is made from 100% recycled paper.

I use very few papertowels. sponges do the majority of the work.

I have probably a silly question - but when you wash the windows and glass, etc. do you use the microfiber cloths? I would love to stop using so many paper towels, but I worry dish rags and such wouldn't clean as well or leave streaks.

I use newspapers! BEST thing to use! no streaks, no dust, nothing.

I bought a big pack of microfiber cloths at Sam's - I use those most of the time and throw them in the was.

I do still have paper towels, but I don't use them as much.

I would never have thought to try newspapers! Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to try it out.

It's the best thing ever! I wouldn't have known either until I saw my housekeeper use it! Chat Icon

I use these: Miracle Cloth
It says you dont' need chemicals but I use them with Method spray to clean the counters. They are awesome. I just throw them in with the regular wash.

For windows I still use paper towels though. I'm going to try newspaper though. I just have to remember to save some of those free things you get because we don't buy newspapers.

Re: Paper towel use & going green

i still use paper towels and paper napkins and i feel HORRIBLE every time i use them too! this thread is actually great cause im learning alternatives.

however, for dusting we use old clothes that we tear up and use as rags around the house.

i only use paper towels when my cat throws up. besides that i rarely use them.

i use sponges and towels regularly. i hate thinking of the waste of paper towels.
