I used to have one on my previous car. I knew that any thief worth their salt could get through it in seconds, I used it more to deter the joyriders and gang member initiations.

And I did keep it within reach for bashing potential as well.

Yep and so does my entire family in their cars. I am in Queens though, parked in the street most times.

As someone else said, its more of a deterrent. I personally know people who had stolen cars and they will admit that although they can get through a club or a hook to the brake..it takes a little longer. So they will look for a car thats not secure in any way and choose that one. So yep, we still use ours!

Um...clubs have the OPPOSITE effect of what people "think" they're for...

To thieves, they're going to jack your car no matter what...when you have a club, it usually means you have no other means of protecting the car (ie: theft insurance coverage or lojack)....

and it's so farging easy to cut that club off the car, that they'll end up breaking your windows in, get it off and drive away with it....

My neighbor does, honestly IDK why. Her car is OLD and falling apart so I find The Club useless for her.

Have not used it in years! I dont even have it anymore! My brother used his up until about a year ago!!

It has been in my truck for years. i think I used it twice in my life.
It would make a better weapon if anyone was to attack me

I had one for my car way back when. Have no clue where it even is these days, so no, I do not use one.

My DH has one & uses it but also depending on where he is sometimes he'll put it on but not lock it. He has had it since he lived in Queens (he grew up there)

ETA: DH also showed me how to keep it "holstered" next to my seat so i can whip it out and smash someone's head in if they try to get into the car while i am in it.

Sorta.
We have the key type that goes on your brake.

It works.

My husband's Acura was stolen and if he had put it on the CLUTCH instead of the break they wouldn't have gotten the six miles they did get. But three days later cops found the car, not much was left but don't you know that lock was still in place. Mechanics said we may never have gotten our car back without it and they thieves could only go so far before the clutch gave.

Now we drive automatic (diff story) and when or if we take my truck to the airport for long stay overs, we use the brakelock and wheel (covers the whole steering wheel) lock.

I don't know ...
It makes me feel better.

yup -- i use it. i also have an alarm -- there is a sticker on my window that says it and you can see the blinking red light inside the car on the dash when it is armed.

i know it won't prevent hard core thieves, but i figure it may deter a little if the choice is a car w/ these things on them or one without.

Yeah we still have it but it's for a weapon vs. theft deterrant (DH's rationale, not mine)
