Chances are you didn't see anything for sure. 15 weeks is still very early for even a tech to make a decision. Try not to think about it too much.

In a word YES!! This happened to me, although much worse. The sono tech put my amnio results on the Level II report so I *knew* beyond any shadow of a doubt what we were having.

That said, DH didn't know and I kept my mouth shut for 19 weeks. The moment my OB announced "it's a girl" was still very special b/c I got to see DH's reaction to the news.

Wow, that's amazing. There is just no way I'd be able to keep that a secret! I'm so impressed!

I would be. You don't know for sure since it is so hard to tell on the sono what anything is. They should have asked you both to turn your heads while they were going below the waist.

15 weeks is a little early for even a tech to tell the sex. I have heard so many stories about people being told one thing and out came another! Chat Icon

SO I think the element of surprize is still in placeChat Icon

this is exactly what i was thinking - 15 weeks is really too early for even a tech to tell 100%, i don't think you can be sure of what you saw at all! Chat Icon

You just never know. At my 20 week sono (and we wanted to know what we were having) I swear I saw something and thought I was having a boy. The tech said she couldn't tell what the baby was because it wasn't cooperating. At my 22 week sono the tech said "pretty sure it's a girl" and I was completely shocked, but even she didn't sound positive so I still thought boy. Well when we went for our 3D sono at 28 weeks the tech said def girl. So you never know.

15 weeks is too early to be sure of the sex in most cases. The tech shouldn't even tell you at that point even if you wanted to know. It may not be what you think at all.

Dont be so sure unless you saw something sticking up- if you just saw a bulge like a ball could very well be a girl or side shot of a boy- you just dont really know like I said unless you saw something sticking up not just a ballChat Icon

At 15 weeks without confirmation from a trained tech I wouldn't start paint the nursery pink or blue. The tests aren't always descended at that point and maile and female genitial look a lot alike.

I have heard on other boards and from doctors -- apparent lack of a penis is not confirmation of a Chat Icon , especially at 15 weeks. There is something else specifically that they look for to confirm Chat Icon .

Re: Would you be frustrated if you didn't want to know the sex...?

I didn't realize how common it was for the tech to slip. DH's friend's wife told the tech she didn't want to know and at the end of the sono, the tech said "It's a princess!" DH's friend's wife was not happy. With their 2nd child they found out.
