What usually comes next?
I have my next appt this week to go over the results of the tests so far. We've done the SA, CD3 bloodwork and an attempt with the HSG. The doctor said he may have gotten a good enough x-ray of the left tube and that we would disuss it more at the appt to see if we have to re-do it.
He said last time that my charts look great and that it doesn't look like o'ing is the problem. Do I still have to have bloodwork to confirm ovulation?
So, what happens next?
Is there a good website that takes you through the necessary tests?
TIA!

Re: What usually comes next?
Has your DH had an SA? That should be part of the tests in the beginning.

Yes. I think those are the results that I am most anxious about. Ya know when you just have a feeling?

Usually CD3 blood work, HSG, and SA are the first line of tests. Sometimes genetic testing is also done. Your RE will go over treatment options with you after those tests are complete. Clomid, with or without IUI, is often a first step in treatments.

Re: What usually comes next?
Why would clomid be prescribed if ovulation is not the issue? The only thing I read was it was for stimulating ovulation and for low sperm count. Are there other uses for it?
Any good websites to check out? Thanks, ladies!

Clomid is often given to women who are ovulating to get more eggs. More eggs=more targets for the sperm.

I have unexplained IF (which means they can't find any explanation as to why I am not PG) and Clomid with IUI was recommended for me as a first line of treatment. I have no problems with ovulation and DH has normal sperm counts. The idea with Clomid is to improve egg quality and quantity so the sperm have more targets. HTH!

Re: What usually comes next?
Ahhh, makes sense. But then you are also at an increased risk for multiples, right?
I really don't think I am ready to take those steps yet. I keep thinking about and I think I just want to try naturally for another 2 or 3 cycles. I guess it depends on what the results are. This is all so overwhelming. I'm having such a tough time dealing. This board has made it so much easier.

Yes, with more eggs there is an increased chance of multiples. You have to go at a pace that feels comfortable to you. If you are not ready to start taking fertility drugs, then that is totally up to you and DH. You can always try an unmedicated IUI cycle. Have you had a post-coital test?

Re: What usually comes next?
Well, my tests as well as DHs SA came back normal too. My Re wants to run a post-coital test to see how everything works together. If the sperm are in a "hostile environment" (her words), that could be the reason for not getting pg.
Has your doctor suggested a post-coital test?

Re: What usually comes next?
We go this week to discuss the results. So, I'll keep in mind the post-coital test. Do they do it during the ferile time? I read something about this but didn't pay too much mind to it. Guess I'll look into it.
ETA: Just checked it out! Thanks!
