I had one! I was just talking about this a few weeks ago.
I was telling a younger girl what it was like before texting and how we would write words out with numbers and you would have to sit there with a pen and paper to "decode" the message! 
OMG - I totally forgot about that.

Yes...I had several (I lose things alot...)
My friend used to beep me with numbers that translated into words, I was able to decipher those messages pretty fast too!

No... and i always thought the only people that neeeded them were cops, doctors and the like. when my 13 year old sister had one, i thought she was into drugs or something because i thought anyone that needed a beeper must be up to no good!
