Yep. And used all the dorky codes too. 
Still have one for work unfortunately. I hate it. Considering I'm in IT, you'd think they'd give us something a tad bit more hi tech.

So does my DH. He always says for an IT department, it's ironic how they are at least 5 years behind the rest of the world in technology. They may be getting blackberries this year! Finally!
I never had one, but I used to beep boys all the time!

My mom and dad bought my brother and I ones for Christmas one year. We were both so excited. I use to clip mine to the frame of my day bed on vibrate in case anyone beeped me messages during the night.  I loved that stupid thing. 
OMG So did I!!!!! As if I could get up and call them back without getting my butt kicked but I only had the one that you could leave a number to call back on. My friends and I had all those silly codes to put after the numberso you knew how important it was

I had a knock-off beeper, I wasn't cool enough to have a real one. I got it when I went away to college and then realized how useless it was unless I was near a phone, at that point I just got a cell!!

Yup, totally had one. As did all my friends. My number was cool too. 224-2242.
I was "811" so all my friends knew if they saw it at the end of the number, that it was me.
Add that to the ambulance corps pager and I was super geek girl.

I thought about beepers the other day on the April Fool's Day thread. We used to beep people with the phone number for the Bethpage Motel.

So my parents could get in touch with me.
But when you think about it ... it was a little retarded! Because if you got beeped, you had to go *find* a phone to return the call.
Not necessarily safe ...

omg i was just talking about this the other day. I begged my parents to get me one, and they gave in, i think i was about 13 or 14 when i got it, i upgraded shortly after that, i had stickers of Foo Fighters on it, and had a chain too i think.

I had one! I was just talking about this a few weeks ago.
I was telling a younger girl what it was like before texting and how we would write words out with numbers and you would have to sit there with a pen and paper to "decode" the message!
OMG - I totally forgot about that.
