This doesn't make me feel better...
I just read that you're odds of conceiving each cycle are about 25%. I always knew that, but right now, that really isn't something I needed to be reminded of. Wouldn't it be nice if it was closer to 50/50? The odds of conceiving within a year are just about 85% for someone in my age range.
You know, in high school sex ed they made it sound like getting knocked up would be SO easy!

Dani, where did you find that info?
I think we're around the same age, but 86% chances in a year seem pretty good!
I know what you mean about people making it seem so easy to get pregnant, but I do feel like for some people it is! There are so many people who don't WANT to get pregnant, but somehow they "oops" and do.
It's definitely not fair at all, but I think our time will come soon!

This site has a fertility calculator. I'm sure it's not THAT accurate, but worth a shot!

This is crazy...I'm not TTC yet, but the only thing I have working against me is that I will be 30 or more when we start TTC, and these are the chances it listed...Can this be right!?
After 3 Months 20% After 6 Months 28% After 12 Months 41% After 24 Months 63% After 36 Months 69%

After 3 Months 41% After 6 Months 60% After 12 Months 86% After 24 Months 132% After 36 Months 146%
Well, I sure hope that site is somewhat accurate! This is technically our 3rd month, but since I was pregnant last month, I guess it goes back to zero & this is the first month?
That site seems to say the same thing- about 85% chance within a year.

ouch. that was pretty depressing for me!
Half my answere were "dont know". I guess it's my age that threw the odds?

This may sound CRAZY, but it almost makes me feel better to heard the odds. Makes me feel like that there isn't something "wrong" with me/us, and that conceiving a child just isn't as easy as I thought.
On a lighter note, had I known the odds, I would've been a lot less careful about BC all those years!

Re: This doesn't make me feel better...
Hearing that each month I would have a 20% chance of conceiving gets me really depressed. I will be 31 at the end of May. This stat is aggravating me now
My info on the website After 3 Months 16% After 6 Months 23% After 12 Months 33% After 24 Months 50% After 36 Months 55%

Someone posted about that she had lower odds to based on that website because she is 30. I think that website maybe weighs age a little too heavily because those statistics are drastically lower than what they gave me.

Re: This doesn't make me feel better...
I filled it out as though I'd never gotten pg before- and it said my chances of conceiving after 3 months was 20%. I conceived after one month of trying with my first.
I personally feel the 25% statistic is based on couples who are just throwing caution to the wind and just BDing like a typical married couple would (just w/o protection).
I feel that by using methods like charting, OPKs, preseed, supplements, even BDing every day from CD10 on, ups your chances CONSIDERABLY higher than 25%.

That website is ridiculous with the age factor. I put in my info even though I knew it would be inaccurate since I am seeing an RE and having medicated cycles because I wanted to see what the questions were. All it asks you is if you are under 30. So according to this site, once you hit 30, boom your fertlity drops significantly.

Re: This doesn't make me feel better...
I find all of these stats a little too depressing - so at this point I am going to choose to ignore them. I know these are just averages and I don't want to get myself all stressed over averages.
My parents had 7 kids (and only 1 was planned) DH is one of 5, none of my siblings have had issues ...I could be the exception in the group, the one who has trouble, I am 34 so that will play a part ( and I do have cousins who adopted because of IF issues) but I just don't want to get myself stressed over statistics yet, maybe in another year if we are still trying, but right now I am just going to choose to be a little ignornat.

Re: This doesn't make me feel better...
Ladies I would like to help you feel a little better. My RE told me that my chances for conceiving through unmedicated IUI was about 10% in each cycle for someone my age (37). Unmedicated IUIs dont increase any woman's chances by much (MAYBE by a percent or 2) and I was able to conceive 3 out of 5 possible times. My IF issues were not related to cycle problems or ovulation, rather cervical stenosis. Try to keep the faith. It will happen for all of you.

Don't let stats like that get you down!! And when you're timing BDing right, using OPK kits, taking Robitussin & all those other things people do to help TTC, your chances are bound to go up.

Re: This doesn't make me feel better...
Your right, I shouldn't get upset. But I think any age can play a factor also. I've work with a lady who for 10 years couldn't get preggo and she started very early in her 20's.
