Alyssa Katelyn is finally here!!!
wow was she really the first to be born in March... thats great!!!!!
Well here goes.... As most of you saw from my post on Monday the doctor was telling me to wait a week and if still nothing then he would induce me next Tuesday because I was having contractions but still no dilation. So I still wasn't feeling well later that same Monday and went to sleep early. Tuesday 3/4 I woke up around 10 and was starting to get nervoius because I hadn't felt any movement from 10-2/3 after doing many things to get her going. So we called the doctor who had us come to the office. It's a family practise and the brother does the OB while the sister does mainly Gyno but some OB checkups. Well the sister was there and hooked me up to the monotor where we found a heartbeat but still no movement. She called her brother who sent me down to the hospital to make sure that everything was ok. Arrived at L & D by 4, they checked all and it was ok but they called him back and came into the room at 6 to tell me that I was staying and being checked in and that by 9 they were going to start inducing me
Yes I was in somewhat of shock because he has said the day before he wanted me to wait another week. Well at 9 they inserted the mediicine that starts with a C (sorry not sure the exact name).. its a string like thing they put behind ur cervix to get you into contractions and dilate. At midnight they took it out because I was only dilated an inch and the contractions were coming on too fast so they didn't want to upset the baby. By 5 AM they gave me Percadel (I think it's the name it is an IV drip medicine that puts you into full blown labor. By 1pm I was dilated 3 centemeters and needed Demeral to ease the pain of my hips and back. By 3 PM I was dilated 6cm and they gave me an Epidural because I was in tears, and by 5pm they came in to check on me, I was 8 cm and they said just about another hour but I'd already been feeling the urge to push so they said hmmm let's see what happens if you push.. well apparently she was ready even if my body wasn't because with 3 good pushes I was fully dilated myself and her head was right there. Called in the OB and by 5:42 she was here and gorgeous. I came home Yesterday and in even 4 days I've seen the changes in her. It's just sooooo amazing, and exhausting. And let me tell you there are tons of things they don't tell you about labor but I'll leave that stuff for all of you to experience on your own!!!
If I can offer any advice it is to start your kegel excersizes NOW because you have NO bladder control at all after labor. I'm getting better, still very soar and still in the attempt at controlling my bladder but overall just enjoying this beautful little person that I know have in my life!!
