When You're in the 2WW

Do you tell yourself that this is your month and try to be positive and hopeful?

Or do you try to convince yourself that you aren't PG so you aren't disappointed when AF arrives?

I tell myself that I'm not so I don't get my hopes up. I was just wondering if I'm the only one. Should I be optimistic and feel sad when AF shows? I feel like I may be doing myself a disservice by not being hopeful, but I can't help but to be negative about it.

My family and friends have started saying "so what's going on, you're not pregnant yet?" I know we haven't been trying long, but it still is making me feel bad.

Re: When You're in the 2WW

in the beginning during the 2ww I felt different. I felt I might be preggo, toward the end I stop being hopeful and waited out till AF arrived, five days late to be exact. I tested twice and both BFN, then I knew it wasn't meant to be. The first test I took, I cried. The second one I told myself why bother your probably not preggo. I tested and I was right NOT PREGGO.

If this month doesn't happen for me I might hold out for awhile. Not sure yet. I did buy OPK strips which cost me 40 bucksChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Lets see if it works. Re: When You're in the 2WW

The 1st month we tried I really got my hopes up. But I was ignorant and thought that with no history of a problem, we'd be good! Well, I set myself up badly and it hurt deeply.

Month 2 I was sort of "Ok, it could happen and it also could NOT happen". truly felt better about my BFN the 2nd time around, if that makes any sense.

The best stories I hear are from women who say they just let it go. They took a test and waited to see. I hope we can all "See" a BFP sooooooonnnnn!!!

Re: When You're in the 2WW

Actually in the past I use to analyze every symptom & try to convince myself that I was PG but then the closer I would get to AF being due, I would get upset bc I knew that I wasn't.

This month, I am so laid back I could not even tell you how many days DPO I am. I am trying to not let it consume my life & anything that I experience, I note down but don't over-analyze it. DH even commented the other day that I am a lot calmer this month & that this is the way he likes me. Honestly, I feel it is not worth getting all worked up about. It will happen, in time, remain positive & you will get your miracle Chat Icon

Re: When You're in the 2WW

I go back and forth. Sometimes I let myself be positive. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes I am positive and negative in the same TWW. It hurts when AF shows either way. Chat Icon

Although this past month I didn't shed one tear. I have kind of done what Kristin said. I didn't know what DPO I was and I wrote down symptoms just to track but I didn't analyze them.. at least not until after 10DPOChat Icon I didn't cry when AF showed. I don't know why. It may have been my attitude this month. It may be that we have a doctor's appointment this week to figure out how to fix everything (so answers are on the horizon) or it could be that after 10 months of TTC I am just getting numb to the experienceChat Icon

Re: When You're in the 2WW

I convince myself that I'm not. Last month, I was so convinced that I wasn't preggo that I seriously almost fell over when that second line appeared. I promised myself I would stay positive this month & as many months as it takes us to conceive again, but it isn't going to work. I'm still a couple of days from Oing & I've already convinced myself that we're out this month. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I stay pretty neutral.

I'm usually hopeful that it's our month... but I don't analyze symptoms. When I test at usually 10 dpo and get that BFN, then I consider myself out for the month so I don't disappoint myself if/when AF arrives.

Re: When You're in the 2WW

I always try to be pessimistic. On occassion a little hope sneaks in but on a whole I try not to get worked up. One month early on I was so dead on positive that this was our month, and went AF came I was devastated. I will never get so worked up again. I honestly don't believe and negativity or pessimism is preventing my BFN. On the contrary I think it has helped me to continue this journey.

Re: When You're in the 2WW

Most months I've known deep down that I'm not PG, although I am paying very close (too close) attention to early symptoms. I really got my hopes up this past cycle. It was the first time we tested, used OPKs, etc so I guess you could say it was the first big let down.

Trying to stay more neutral this month. If it happens it happens, although I know I can't last with the attitude for too long.

I will say that I had no idea it would "take this long" (I use that phrase loosely as I know we've haven't been trying very long at all). I was a little ignorant and thought that if we just BD'd during the right window it would happen. a la one of the Spears sisters.
