ETA...and actually i do get the "just because i love you " gifts too...I don't have to chose one or the other
Maybe not "expected", but many thought that it would be a nice gesture. I'm not trying to start anything, especially since this thread seems to be dying down.

i know you aren't trying to start anything but they way you posted you made it out like a gift was "expected"...WHICH it was not.
AND you made it out like someone had to chose between types of gift giving and recieving....which i don't have to...
I do not have to CHOSE between getting a gift :just because i am loved" or "Because i F*cked up"
I am lucky to get both...
i just think talking about it as if someone has to chose is misleading

posting aobut how great things are is a false sense of reality that this board perpetuates..And i think it is time for that to change a bit!
I have to agree with this 100% actually. I do believe that sometimes the "MY HUSBAND is SOOOOO PERFECT" posts can make me more annoyed than those "MY DH IS A JACKAZZ" posts..
And I do think that more often than not, a LOT of pepole sugar-coat their relationships to make them SEEM perfect, but in fact is there really such a thing? Marriage is HARD, it has tons of ups and downs.. we ALL fight, to varying degrees.. Sometimes this board DOES need a dose a reality!
I definitely have to agree there! Sometimes I get depressed when I see all the "My DH is so wonderful" threads (not that brad isn't wonderful, but certainly not all the time). Seeing other threads with people complaining about the little things their DHs do makes me feel more "normal" in my marriage.
However, Don, I can totally see and respect your point at the threads that go on and on about all guys being jerks or whatever...things get exaggerated when you get a bunch of women together venting!

That's why I said I would rather receive a "just because I love you" gift than an "sorry I f-ed up" gift. Never said anybody else had to feel that way.

Nobody has to chose....I never implied that anybody did. I think you're reading too much into what I wrote.
ETA: By the way, I said I didn't want to start anything and something started regardless, so whether there's a response to this or not, I'm done.

Re: Wonder Husband
Well now i have a few points to make:
1. this was a venting thread...And i think it is about time more of these happened!
2. the comments that followed we in JEST. I think that was very obvious. People make these comments ALL THE TIME in real life....They aren't to be taken as literal.
3. IMO nobody here really would expect a gift everytime a DH F*cked up. If i got said gifts then i would need a mansion to store all of it. AGAIN talking aobut this was in a JOKING manner.
4. And for people to compare this to any other kind of gesture or loving purchase is silly
Don. I understand what you are talking about and see some points.. But this board can be about just joking around and being silly. I think taking the things said in this thread as if anyone was being disrespectful is being a tad over sensitive.
JEEEEZ....can't joke about anything these days

Agreed!!
AND yes, I am not saying that is it nice to go overboard with the male-bashing... BUT its just a fact of life on a board filled with ladies predominantely. AND I am sorry, Men are a billion times more vicious when they b*tch about the women in their lives on a whole. I used to hang out with men predominantly and I would cringe at the crap coming out of their mouths... they don't even gloss it over, they are BLUNT

i think the only reason we start the "men are scum" is b/c we all have been there. we all have had a moment when fh/dh does something not entirely bright and we come where we know other women have been through the same and they will hear us out.
