I'm terrible with Math...can someone help

I received a check today, minus a 25% fee. How do I figure out the full amount before the deduction was taken.

I'm sure it's easy...but I can't figure it outChat Icon

TIA

Re: I'm terrible with Math...can someone help

Should be check amount divided by (1-.25) = full amount

For example, if it was $100 and you took 25% off you'd get a check for $75. To get back to the full amount, you'd take...

$75/(1-.25) = full amount
$75/.75 = $100

Divide your check amount by 0.75.

I think it's because your check amount is

n x 0.75 = Check Amount

So, divide both sides of equation by 0.75 to get n.
