Breast Cancer - FYI
I know that the drinking water on Long Island has become a debate amongst LIFers. I saw a reference to this website in Science magazine. I thought some of you might be interested.
Researchers have identified at least 216 chemicals that cause breast cancer in animals. I know people are adamant about their drinking water but it's everywhere and practically unavoidable For example one of the things found to cause the formation of mammary tumors was acrylamide....
"Acrylamide, a chemical shown to cause mammary tumors in female rats, is formed during the heating of starch-rich foods to high temperatures." I.e. french fries.

Re: Breast Cancer - FYI
I also just received this in an email. Haven't checked yet on snopes to see if it's real or not, but here it is:
Drinking Bottled Water Kept in Car....a friend whose mother recently got diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car. The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful and do not drink that water bottle that has been left in a car and pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us!!!! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!!!

Omg, I always do this. I have a case of Poland Spring in my truck AS WE SPEAK, and every morning I grab a few bottles for the day ahead.
How true are these findings? I don't know what to believe anymore...

thats what Sheryl Crow talked about on Ellen few months ago, how plastics are dangerous when heated up... so no microwaving in plastics as well...

That concerns me and even though they come out crappy, I try to heat them on a glass plate instead when I can. I actually stopped eating them b/c of the plastic and the use of the micorwave (another questionable product).

Thanks for posting! I've always been intrigued by the acrylamide information. Wondered if acrylamides in herbicides used during crop growth had anything to do with the appearance in foods.
I'll visit your sites!
