What kind of event is this for. What time of the day/day of the week? Whats your budget, and would you consider doing it in a hotel

Hotel would be fine. It's a going away party for an executive that's been with the firm for 17 years. Big deal. No budget per se.

Are you hosting the event? The Marriot Marquis does a nice event.
If you are interseted in a restuarant- Blue Fin is great. Its in the W hotel in Times Square. They may even have a room for an event.
