Zofran
I had EXTREME morning sickness 24 hours for the first few weeks of my pregnancy. It was awful. I was put on Zofran at 10 weeks and it has been a godsend. I only take it in the morning and before bed. Should I stop taking it at this point and see what happens? I am 12 weeks. I am just so afraid the same thing is going to happen and I am a teacher and start going back to school again in 2 weeks. How long did you stay on Zofran if you did take it?

Zofran
I was afraid to take it my first trimester (irrational fear really) so I started it at 14 weeks and was able to stop around 21 or 22 weeks. It was a God send for me, too - I was vomiting 4x per day but was headed to Paris for our babymoon at 15 weeks and my OB told me I just needed to give the Zofran a try and it worked wonders.
Try weaning yourself off it on a weekend when you don't have to be anywhere afterward. If you're still sick, continue using it for the week and try again the following weekend. This is how I did it and finally one weekend I realized I didn't really need it anymore. Good luck!
(PS: Just because you're sick in the beginning does not mean it will come back in tri three. I'm 38 weeks tmw and have had no vomiting whatsoever since the beginning... Some people will tell you that you will be sick again at the end and this is not necessarily true.)

Zofran
I took a half a pill on mornings I felt nauseous. Around 20 weeks I noticed I was feeling a little better so I would try to get through more hours without it. By 21 weeks I didn't need it anymore at all.
You can take a half a dose by cutting it in half. It works very quickly once you take it (like 20-30 minutes) so you can take the wait and see approach. Hope you're feeling better!

I started Zofran at 8 weeks...and I am currently 15 weeks. I try here and there to not take it to see what happens...and all is good until I throw up a meal. So I am still taking it and will still take the wait and see what happens approach until I go back to work as well. I am also a teacher and once I go back that approach will be much harder.

Re: Zofran
Start by either cutting the pill in half or delaying your first dose to see how you feel. If the nausea comes on, you can take the pill and it works pretty fast. I'm 21w and only take it when I feel the nausea coming on which has been only once a day lately.

Re: Zofran
Question...This is my second pregnancy and just like the first, I'm experiencing nausea alllll day. I sit around doing nothing. I feel like I have to throw up but nothing comes up! Anyway, Does anyone know if Zofran would work for me, or does it only help for vomiting? TIA

Yes, it blocks your brain from releasing seratonin which is what causes nausea and vomiting.

I would say try not to take it in the AM. I took it from week 8 to about week 15 or so. It works so quickly that even if you did start to feel sick, you could take it and be ok. Feel better.

I took it from week 6 until the end. I cut down on the use over time but my morning sickness never went away. If you need it use ..it is there to help you.

Re: Zofran
I've been on since early like 8-9 weeks. I tried to stop and was of good for a couple of days but then that came crashing down so I moved to half a pill....
I'm trying to push the hours inbetween the doses as far as Incan with the hopes of coming off.
I am now 22.5 weeks
