Yet another vent about stupid comments people make
I have a 16 month old DS and am currently 15 weeks pg with DC#2. We will be finding out the gender this time around. People keep making comments like,"hopefully this one will be a girl!"
I have thick skin and can usually just let it roll off my back. I KNOW people just mean that it would be nice to have one of each gender and don't mean any harm by it. I'm usually the one replying to posts on here saying "don't let it bother you!" but today DH's coworker asked me if I had a feeling either way and when I said I felt a boy, she exclaimed rather loudly "OH NO!!!!!! Hopefully you're wrong and it's a girl!" and proceeded to make a sad, pouty face. It just really ticked me off.
DS has been such a joy and has brought so much happiness into my life. What would be so bad about having two???

there is nothing wrong with having 2 boys, if that is the case. i can understand them saying that because of course it would be nice to have one of each, but sometimes people don't think before they speak, we all know that! just don't let them bother you. as long as you are happy and have a healthy baby, that is all that matters!

You already know how much I love A! So I will be over the moon if you have another boy. And you know if I ever have another baby, it is going to be a boy as well, and they will have to besties just like A and Evan. Love you! 
ETS: Is it bad there is a little part of me that hopes for another boy so that your DH will go for number 3? I am afraid if you have a DD next he won't let you have a 3rd, and I don't think I could live with that.

I will be 7 weeks tomorrow, we have only told our parents and siblings and we have ALREADY gotten "hopefully you have a girl" or "wouldn't it be nice if you had a girl" UGH I feel your pain. I hope you told the person off lol

Sadly, no....she's DH's good friend and 15 weeks pregnant herself so I kept my mouth shut

my DS just turned 2 last week. Do you know how he spent this evening? Giving DS2 (2 weeks old) his first bath. There's something about brothers that melts my heart... either way, you're so blessed

Aww that is so sweet 
I agree 100% about there being something so special about the bond between brothers. I would be thrilled to have a DD, of course, but equally as happy to have a DS. I just wish others would feel the same way!

I think that most people want a boy and a girl so they don't think that there is anything wrong or insensitive by saying it. Also, I think that most people assume that men want a boy and women want a girl. I really would not take offense to it. I kind of wanted my second to be a boy so that my DS would have a brother close in age. I am still thrilled with my little girl. I think people know that deep down all you really want is a healthy baby and so making comments about the gender isn't really a big deal.
