Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
Sorry I'm asking so many questions, just at my wit's end here.
How old is your DC, and how many times a day do they eat? Just 3 meals, or snack in between? And do they eat in their highchair all the time? DD would eat 10x more when not in her highchair than she does in it, but I want her to sit in it!

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
DS is a GOOD eater so that may not help but no more highchair for him. He hates it. FYI.. we are still doing baby food. He still gags on table food so not ready yet.
Our feeding schedule
Bottle of 5oz Milk. Oatmeal with half jar apple
Mid morning: 5oz milk sometimes a snack (applewheels or puffs)
Lunch: jar of meat/veggies jar of fruit Puffs
Mid afternoon: 5oz milk sometimes a snack (applewheels or puffs)
Dinner jar of veggies or fresh veggies I cooked Jar of fruit
30 minutes before bed: 5oz milk

I didn't realize he was still on jarred too. I thought we were the only ones. And it's not b/c DD gags, it's because she refuses anything fresh practically.
So he's out of the highchair-- where does he eat?

We use the booster seat on the regular chair by our table. He does not feel as "strapped" in.
I put the tray on (which is lower than the one of the highchair).
It's like he feels he is a big boy now.

3 meals and about 3 snacks. We have a rule though, no snacks 1 hour before a meal, otherwise she won't have an appetite.
All meals are in her booster seat at the table.
Snacks I usually give to her in a bowl and she can walk around and eat as she pleases.

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
Aly is 25 mths...she rarely eats 3 meals a day. The nurse at the ped said at this age its very common to eat 2 and then just snack at the 3rd..Aly eats a decent breakfast and dinner but lunch is usually just a yogurt and some pretzels or some fruit. She j=hates the highchair so she is normally in a booster. She eats much better when not confined.

Feeding Schedule
BREAKFAST Snack & Sippy LUNCH Snack & Sippy DINNER

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
Right now DD is on this schedule:
Morning wakeup: 6 oz milk
School breakfast: cereal with fruit and either pancake, waffle, toast from home
School lunch: 3 oz milk and whatever food they are having for the day with fruit or veggies
School afternoon snack: 3 oz milk or water with graham crackers
Dinner: whatever I make or if we're out I will give her toddler babyfood
bedtime: 8 oz milk
Depending how she ate during the day will depend on if she gets an extra snack at night. She sleeps much better when she gets one. On the weekends it's usually a fruit bar instead of the graham crackers
eta: Victoria is good about sitting in her highchair thankfully

Michael is 2 years old and eats one actual meal a day (which usually is dinner). The other 2 meals, he picks and walks around eating or has a bowl and picks out of the bowl all day.

DD hated sitting in the highchair for meals and wouldn't eat. Yet if I followed her around feeding her as she walked around...she would NOT stop eating.
So...bad mommy that I am...the highchair is now where she can see the TV and she watches Elmo and eats...and she sits nice and eats a full meal. Sorry, flame me for that, but I'd rather her eat, then not.
She eats 3 meals a day (bkft, lunch, dinner) and definitely snacks during each.
ETA - NOT a habit I will continue with.

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
DS loves to eat and snack. When I am home with him on the weekends he eats 3 meals per day and snacks twice in between.
He has this schedule:
9:30am: Breakfast
12:00pm: Snack then nap
3:00pm: Lunch
6:00pm: Snack
8:00pm: Lunch
At daycare he has a slightly different schedule.

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
DD is almost 23 months old. She sits in the highchair for all meals. Snack is on the go.
Sippy of milk when she wakes in the morning, one after nap and one before bed (about 16-18 oz total).
My DD would love to graze all day but a doctor friend of mine has cautioned me against it. He said that it takes the edge off of hunger for a meal.
DD has 3 meals but they are VERY small and 1 snack.
Breakfast: 3/4 of a waffle or 1 packet oatmeal or 1/2 egg & 1/2 piece of toast or 1/2 cup cereal (I really think she like fractions! )
Lunch: yo-baby yogurt & a couple of graham cracker sticks or 1/2 cheese quesadilla or 1/2 banana with peanut butter or crackers & cheese with watermelon
Dinner: a few bites of meat or fish (dipped in ketchup), a few bites of potato or rice, lots of veggies (she loves her veggies), baby food fruit
Snack: goldfish or chunked apple or pretzels

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
3 meals, one morning snack, one afternoon snack. Cup of milk with 2 of the meals usually. Meals & snacks are ALWAYS in her booster seat if we are home- never walking around (we have a dog) or in the stroller or car if we are out of the house at that time. We're on a pretty tight schedule with meals.

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
DD hates the hignchair, but I do use it. I am sure she would eat better not in it but I do not want to develop that habit. I may try to use the booster seat more, as she seems to like that better
she eats 3 meals a day (dinner she usually refuses) and one or two small snacks

3 meals plus 1 or 2 snacks. Meals are all at the table. Messy snacks are at the table. I will let them eat dry snacks on the couch (dry cereal, granola bar, pretzels etc)

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
Emily eats 3 meals (usually one meal is a weak one, where she doesn't finish much) and 2 snacks a day, one mid-morning and one after dinner when she takes her nebulizer. Usually a snack is yogurt, crackers, fruit, some cereal in a cup, something like that...

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
At your DD's age, my DDs were eating 3 meals per day in their high chairs and only snacked if we were out (restaurant, store, etc.) to keep them entertained.

DD is 13 months.
She eats 3 meals a day, all in her high chair. She has 1 or 2 snacks, sometimes in her high chair, sometimes as she plays (in a bowl on the ground), or if we're out and about, in her stroller.
If I were you, I'd forget the "she has to eat in her highchair" thing, and just figure out where and how she WILL eat, and go from there.

Re: Yet another feeding question-- toddlers
During the week DS eats 1/2 his breakfast in the car, and 1/2 in his booster at the sitters. Lunch is in the booster as well. At home, he eats in his high chair. And chelle, you know I do the same thing as you for dinner when he is tired and a crank (but you knew that already )
He doesn't snack much, BUT he eats a crapload at meals. My cousin told me at lunch he ate: GG raviolis, string cheese, sliced turkey, two pieces of bread, watermelon and a donut
