Re: Xpost - Lake George hotels
Haven't been in a few years (about 3) but when we used to go we always stayed at the sagamore. IMO it's the best one there! We stayed in the main hotel part.

Re: Xpost - Lake George hotels
we're going this weekend!!!! we rent a cabin right on the lake in Bolton Landing (about 15 minutes from the village) called Candlelight Cottages. You walk outside and the lake is right there, you can see it from your deck. Each cabin has a kitchen, living room, grill, bedrooms, bathroom, heat, A/C, the website isn't much to look at but trust me we stayed here quite a few times and LOVE it. Plus the pricing is very reasonable. We rented a 2 bedroom this weekend with another couple and it's 600 total so 300 a couple. These are off season rates for 2 of the 3 nights. They also have 1 bedroom cottages. We usualy pick up food at hte store up there and cook for a few nights and breakfast then go out for dinner one night and a lunch. there is also a winery up there and a brewery. Oh and they also have kayaks, canoes and paddle boats at the cottages that are free of charge. We rented a boat last time we were there and went tubing in the lake. It truly is a great place! It is very close to everything.

We just got back from LG. We stayed at O'Sullivans on Canada street. Great location right on the lake, walking distance from shops and restaurants, lakefront cabins available. Good times!

Thanks. Someone on travel just posted to me that this one isnt very kid friendly....I just looked at the website, looks amazing and does mention kids and family, etc. But another poster said not so much. What do you think?

Not sure. Because, honestly, we stopped going to Lake George b/c I thought it would be better with older kids not little ones. Alot of families do stay in the Sagamore but, is it the best place with little kids - not really but, I sort of feel that way about Lake George in general. We haven't gone since we had the kids but, when we did go - we always saw families there and I know people that do go with kids.

The Sagamore
Fort William Henry (the rooms in the Main building are very nice and it's right in the village)
Canoe Island Lodge - it's a private island lodge at Diamond Point. A little pricey but kid friendly and well worth the $$.
