Has anyone recently delivered at Good Sam and have any information about the new private suites?
I can't find anything online about it.

X-Post: Recently Delivered at Good Sam
I delivered there in December when they were doing construction. They were supposed to be ready by summer/fall 2015. Call and ask if you want information about them.

Re: X-Post: Recently Delivered at Good Sam
Hmmm "Here, mothers and newborns remain together in private rooms for the entire hospital stay."
I wonder if they make you keep the baby if you had a CS and aren't BF? I know I couldn't get up out of bed without help 24 hrs later or more, let alone care for my baby. I kept her in the nursery at night. Those were the last nights of uninterrupted rest I got (2.5 yrs ago) lol.

Re: X-Post: Recently Delivered at Good Sam
They are open and there is a $200 per night fee.
C&P from Newsday article:
Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center has just opened a new Mother Baby Unit with six private rooms where mothers and newborns remain together for their hospital stay.
Each room has a bassinette for baby, a mini refrigerator and a full bath. It’s decorated with soothing wall coverings and artwork, and has a chair that expands to a recliner for a partner. The private rooms have a nightly surcharge of $200.
“New parents today are becoming more sophisticated, and they’re shopping around and know what thay’re looking for for their birth experience,” said Theresa Jacobellis, assistant vice president of public affairs and marketing at the West Islip hospital. “They like private rooms, they like for the partner to have a place to stay overnight. It’s really to foster bonding with the family spending these first hours and days together.”
Close to 2,800 babies are delivered at the Good Samaritan every year. Good Samaritan is a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island.
For more information, call at 631-376-4444 or visit good-samaritan-hospital.org.

They might not let you get one then. But then again they can't say oh you had a c section you con't get one because I had my DS the entire time and my DH was not there all the time and I had to take care of DS.

Im not delivering there for several reasons. Some being that they were morons the last time lol. But Id just be calling the nurse all night when my baby needed to eat b/c I needed someone to help me up to the bathroom last time. I was ok til about 16 hrs after then everything wore off. But by 48 hrs post I was running up an down the hall to the NICU.
They did have some private rooms when I was there but I thought they were supposed to have ALL private rooms fter the reno. Sounds like just 7 and you have to pay like any other hospital. Not worth $600.

the rooms are on a different floor than the regular nursery. you can have anyone you want stay there to help you-husband , mothers whoever. Its more like a hotel room.
