WWYD?

I just found out that I'm pregnant. I'm supposed to be in my cousin's wedding. I'll be about 38.5 weeks.

I'm supposed to order my dress within the next month so I have to figure out what to do.

Would you be a bridesmaid that close to your due date?

I would try to stall as much as possible, or until you tell her. I think that's really pushing it, and I'm pretty relaxed about most preg-related things.

I was and it worked out well. The wedding was 10 days before my due date but I wound up being 9 days late. They ordered me a HUGE (size 20 instead of 10) dress not knowing how big I'd be, and I brought it to a seamstress who worked wonders and made it fit perfectly.

The wedding was a blast, and I lasted the entire night, even danced, hoping it would kick start labor (no suck luck).

I did tell the bride ASAP and told her I would understand if she didn't want a 9 month pregnant chick as a bridesmaid, but she was happy for me and still wanted me as a bridesmaid!

I would tell her the truth, and see how she wants to handle it. If she wants you to still be in the wedding, go for it! I've seen many pregnant BM's over the years.

However my DD was born at 37 weeks so you never know! Make sure you're ok with eating the cost of the dress if you never get to wear it Chat Icon

Also if your first was a c-section you may be more likely for a second c-section which they usually schedule for 39 weeks, right?

I think you need to talk to the bride first. You may be willing to do it now, but it could change when the wedding rolls around-- you may be in labor at that point! So, first thing is, ask the bride if she is OK with you saying yes knowing you may not be there.
I was a BM in my cousin's wedding at 40 wks 1 day. (due date was changed-- when I said yes, I thought I would be 38.5 wks!) I just kept thinking "stay in baby!" And the only way I was missing that wedding is if I was physically pushing the baby out at that time Chat Icon
I ordered a size 24 dress (was sz 6 before), and anything smaller wouldn't have fit around my belly. Had to take the chest in.
Baby came 4 days later. Chat Icon

talk to the bride before ordering your dress. let her know the situation and that there is a chance you may not make it to wedding
as long as she is ok with it, the store you are ordering the dress from should be able to help you figure out what size to need.
def order large - as large as possible. it is much easier for them to make it smaller that to make it larger. i would also ask them what their alteration cap is (not all places have this, but some do) and have them put it in writing on your receipt....the alterations can get expensive)

Talk to the bride and see what she wants. I found out that I was due 2 days before my best friends' wedding. I was the MOH. I spoke to my friend and she said that she did not want me to not be her MOH and if I was not able to be there then she just would not have a MOH.

Well I ended up going into labor 9 days early so I was abe to be there for her.

I would be completely honest with her as I would not want to be in a wedding party that far along. Hopefully she would understand. If one of my cousins felt this way I would be 100% fine with it.

Re: WWYD?

Talk to her and see what she says. My cousin was suppose to be in mine 4 weeks before her due date. (she lived in MD). She ended up opting out and thank god she did b/c she ended up on bed rest. See what she says. She will understand.

I personally would just be honest and tell her. I also probably would step down from being a BM just because you'll be uncomfortable and may not even make it! I had DS 10 days early. I'm sure she'll understand.
