wwyd - hpt
So by this time next month I will be approx 12-14 days dpo. I will have had my first iui done and I will be waiting to poas. We leave for my cousin's wedding oos around the time af is expected so I'm going to poas that am before we leave. Do you think the cheapie hpt will be sufficient or should I splurge on an early detection one?

if you are going to be 12-14 dp-iui i would think any of them would come up positive if you were pregnant
if you are going to test closer to 10dpiui i would get an early detection test
good luck

Re: wwyd - hpt
not to be a party pooper, (i know, im ALWAYS the party pooper ) but i wouldn't plan that far ahead unless you are doing an unmedicated IUI and have the most perfect predictable cycle every single month.
if its medicated then you have no idea when your actual IUI will be. if you are on meds your cycle will not be predictable since the response can be very varied. so its hard to say you would be 12-14dpo and plan to test at a specific time.
im only saying this to be realistic so that you don't have a rigid plan in your head. as a rule of thumb, fertility treatments laugh in the face of whatever plans you make!! actually from my experience with IF and birth i'd say don't have any plans at all... the world does what it wants and the more flexible you are the easier it will be!!
but to get off my , i'd use an FRER

I agree with my wife on this one
You really cannot pinpoint where you will be in your cycle in a month from now.
Oh, and about that not making plans thing? Very good suggestion.
Two things I can say with complete confidence is that infertility takes patience, and the ability to relinquish any element of control over your life you thought you once had. Welcome to the wild side.

Thanks ladies. I'm doing a medicated cycle bc of unexplained infertility but I'm usually a 28-30 day girl so we shall see.

ITA that each medicated IUI cycle can be diff...I went from having my IUI done the past 3x on CD 18/19 to the last cycle was CD 13/14 so even if you are predictable how you react to the meds can change.

if u r doing a medicated cycle there is no way of knowing bc u have to see how u respond to the meds and then they will decide when to do the iui
