WOWW MY Inspirational STory..(Teachers or Parents of Special Ed Children will appreciate this !!!) *update* bottom pg 1 *
My sister is just an inspiration. She leaves me speechless with her tireless devotion to the things she is passionate about.
Her daughter (My Goddaughter  ) has learning challenges, more specifically Central Auditory processing delays. She reads really well, but has trouble with processing the information) and it affects so many areas of her academics  )
She does receive services at school, but my sister (and thank God for the many amazing moms that have educated her and been her cheerleaders the whole way through, since they had "been there done that" with their own children.) She's always VERY well prepared at meetings, with detailed binders, documented emails, conversations, notes and more notes.
She's not just an advocate for her child, but for all children with learning disabilities.
Well she had been told about an AMAZING software program that helped children so much, years ago. The school no longer had funds to keep the program in place, so it just dwindled with time, and other things on the budget..
Well my sister dug and dug, saw that there was a TREMENDOUS need for this program to be implemented again at this school. She got speciflc details on exactly how much it would cost (update software, train teachers, etc.)
She met with everyone from the Assemblymen, the School Administrators, Senators and anyone else needed to approve this program.
Tomorrow is their big day/meeting, they will find out if it is approved
This is one SO MANY things that she has done as a "work at home mom" jack of all trades kinda girl..
She's extremely active in her community, she volunteers, does fundraisers and is very involved in so many things. I hope for once that she gets something that she is so passionate about, to help so many children that are struggling day to day with even simple tasks at school..
Thanks for letting me share.. this is something Ive been very passionate about also..
and please say a prayer that this is approved

She really is. and a mom who's been sort of a "big sis" to my sister all the way through, I would get tears in my eyes just hearing how much this "Stranger" was helping my niece, how passionate she was that my sister would make WELL informed decisions, every step of the way.. This "big sis" is an angel. I can't thank her enough. I dont think she knows how amazing she's been and what a huge part of this she is..
SHe was one of the "letters of reference" as well, to get the sofware approved.

thanks for sharing! my sister is a mom to a child with autism and a child with asperger's syndrome so i know how hard they have to fight to get the services they need!
she sounds like an amazing lady!

Great story. It is an inspiration. I teach children with special needs and they need advocates from every aspect in their lives.

I hate when people bash these parents as pain in the A s ses - I'm always like - "If that was your kid, what would YOU do?"

thanks everyone ! Thanks for letting me brag 
You're right, it's hard for anyone to understand until it REALLY hits home for them. to see their child struggle and feel helpless.
Thankfully, my sister's VERY well respected as a mom, as a businesswoman and so much more. She's involved in helping anyone and everyone when THEY need it, so hopefully these children will get THIS much to give them that little spark they need.

****UPDATE *************
So they had the meeting today, everyone was present -
The Software / Program was APPROVED !!!!!
They were given funds for the program to be updated and available to all students in the school that can benefit from it !!!!!
The school has a big Special Ed population, and this program is VERY highly regarded in the industry.
and the Principal, who although she knows how strong-willed and determined my sister is about things she is passionate about, somehow felt threatened by this (because she didnt deem it a priority herself)...
well at the end of the meeting the Assemblyman/Councilman approached the Principal to offer additional funds about projects they had heard she was interested in working on in the future...
so she was  and completely caught offguard..
you never know when one opportunity can lead to another...
Im am BEAMING with pride and overwhelmed with happiness for so many reasons. !!!!!!!

Yes, she is definetly an inspiration!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with her and the school. I was classified as LD all through school with certain teachers and adminstrators saying that I could not do this or that. Well let's just say that I really showed them.
