An FYI for parents and teachers**edited to add a story from flordia*

The other day my girlfriends son got one of those huge jaw breakers. Well needless to say he decided to place it in the micro wave. Now he is in the peds ward at stonybrook with 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face, neck, tongue, throat and some more minor ones all over his body. His brother was also slightly burned from it exploding. Some pieces even embed ed in the wall. THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS and the dr.s actually felt he was lucky from the stories they have read about this happening. SO please if you do buy one of these make sure the kids understand how dangerous this is. thanks Chat Icon

I don't understand -- why in the world would this boy have put the candy in the microwave?

But how the heck did it explode in the little girls face? She didn't put hers in the microwave, it just seemed to spontaneously combust?
Odd, I feel really bad for her.Chat Icon
