Re: Wow - Your Baby is So Alert
We got that all of the time as well. I think it's people's way of complimenting when they can't think of anything else to say.
I used to also get "wow, he's such a good baby." which gave me the image of all of the other babies knocking over liquor stores.

Re: Wow - Your Baby is So Alert
I actually do think its just a comment that people make because they forget how alert babies really are.

Re: Wow - Your Baby is So Alert
I am laughing (not at you) bc I don't see what is so surprising...maybe people forget that babies are only in their own world for a very short time. Your DD is ? a couple months old, no? More than normal to be alert.

Re: Wow - Your Baby is So Alert
I heard it with all my kids except Amelia. And you know what? She wasn't alert. She had a rough little start my Amelia.

I'm warning you though... in my case, "alert" turned into "spirited, stubborn, strong-willed firecracker"
hahaha i couldve written this myself..Melania was so alert, and so determined that she rolled over for the first times at 6 weeks...and has been cruising and now walking since 8 1/2-9 months..i would call her a FIRCRACKER for sure..
at 10 months, she even waves her finger back and forth when she shakes her head no sometimes

Seriously, I hear people say that about EVERY baby. Sometimes I feel like saying, "No thats a normal baby".
ITA. So long as the baby is awake, people consider it to be alert!
ITA
i got that constantly with DS and now again with DD. i feel like saying, no, they're just AWAKE - as they should be!
