YES! I totally wish I could do that... although my lunch hour is closer to 1.5 hours (everyone takes a long lunch)... and I'd rather just be able to work through it & leave 1.5 hours early! But no matter what, I can't ever leave before 4:30.... so I'll just take the break & enjoy it to the fullest.... by 1 pm, I feel like I need a little rest anyway!

I do it on days I have dr. appointments so I don't have to keep putting in personal time.. but I would love to do it on a daily basis! My new boss is very flexible, she might actually go for it.

Of course, I eat at my desk most days, but if I need to leave early or come in late, it's not an issue because I very rarely take an "official" lunch hour.

I never took a lunch when I worked. Just too busy. So if I could leave an hour early for working through my lunch I most definitely would!

Im legally entitled to a half hour prep and a half hour lunch. It is rare that it actually happens because of the severity of my students' needs. So I already forfeit my lunch hour.
To answer the answer in a more direct manner though, HELL YES I would give it up. I work in a sh*thole and wouldn't stay there one minute longer than I had to for my own personal safety.
ETA: It would never happen if Obama has has his way though. He already wants to extend the school year. Lord only knows what he would do with the school DAY. It better not happen as long as my kids are in day care or I look for another line of work.

My first reaction is, no!!!
I need that break to be able to take my mind off things and eat something. I enjoy the half-way break!
Also, sometimes I get stuff done on my break without my kids. If I go home early, I have to get them and shelp 2 kids to the store with me. No thanks

I do this now...but I come in an hour later than everyone else because there would be no way I would get out of here at 4 eveyday. I am a consultant and I get paid by the hour. One of my clients requires that you have to take a break for lunch (hours are 8-5 with an hour lunch). I said no way...I don't need a break most days, and that turns into a very expensive non-productive hour for me so they agreed to let me come in at 9 instead of 8. Works well for both of us.

There are times where I wish I can do just this!
Half the time people are trying to get me to do work on my lunch break (never happens though).
And there are times where I just eat before/after my lunch and just sit around doing nothing on my actual break time.

Lunch hour??? what is that?
I do it everyday so I can leave on time and get my kids by 4pm.
My hours are 7:30 to 3:30 but I never get done without giving up lunch.
I go on here for occasional breaks though so its all good
