would you tell the person sitting next to you on the train to lower their music?

i am referring to people who mostly ride NJ tranist buses/trains, LIRR or metro north.

if the person sitting near you has their ipod on loud- where you can hear, would you tell them to kindly lower it or do you tolerate it?

on the bus today, i told someone to lower their music- it was the most annoying music ever- it sounded like a harmonica. Chat Icon Chat Icon

It doesnt bother me much most of the time, but Im always tempted to tell them that it's SO LOUD they are going to lose their hearing. But who wants to be that naggy old fart on the train? Chat Icon

Prolly not, but then again I grew up with a brother who blasted heavy metal in old fashioned headphones so loud he should be declared permanently deaf, so I guess I am used to it!

On the LIRR I do all the time. I don't want to hear it through their crappy scratchy headphones.

I am very aware of my volume. I don't do it on the subway because it's usually a 5 minute ride. But on the LIRR I have to sit there for 50+ minutes.

eta: that probably doesn't surprise anyone that I would say something seeing how much I love my commute.

I prob. would just put up with it. To me it's not worth it if I'm getting off the train soon.

ITA. I've even asked the conductor to find the person and ask them to be considerate, if I can't see the source.
