DH goes on bike trips, camping trips solo...he's going camping with my brother this summer. Its cheap though...

i don't know that i would right now... $$ aside i don't know if i could be away from DS for that long.

i know eventually i will but to me, he is so young, i want to be there all the time. it was hard to be away from him for even one night.

Thanks everyone. When I first saw I got so many replies, I thought I was going to get flamed.

DH gets to go away all the time for work and pleasure, so it will be nice for him to have some responsibility for DD while I get to have fun!

If you would have asked me this a year ago I would have said no but ask me now and HECK YES I would. Especially if your parents and ILs are going to watch your DD. Have fun!!! Sounds like an awesome time!!!

Absolutely, I would go if I had someone to watch DD. I'm hoping to do a long weekend with the girls sometime soon. DH has actually encouarged it. He knows how much I could use a break from reality.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! But DH would never let me - he has heart failure when I'm going to a baby shower for 4 hours .

Right now, I wouldn't for a few reasons. My DS is still pretty young and I wouldn't want to leave him for that long. My vacation time right now is being eaten up by a sick child and doctor visits too, so I don't have a lot of extra time to use.

DH and I also agree that right now, at this point in time, we prefer to use our vacation time and money for family trips only. That might change in the future, but for now, that's how it is. I could see going on a long weekend, maybe, and to somewhere I can drive. If I am spending $$ on a plane ticket and hotel, it will involve DH and DS.

If I were a SAHM, then yes, I would. But being a working mom (with TWO out of the home jobs), then no I would have to say that my time with DS is too precious and limited.

At your DD's age probably yes, maybe a little bit older. Maybe not a week but I'd consider an extended time 3-4 nights.

I personally could never leave my kids for a week, and would feel weird for my inlaws to be watching them while i was away w/friends-but just like some could dissagree with my views, who am i or anyone else to flame you?! Have a great time!!!!

Yes!!!

I went away with my family for a weekend without DH or DC's when they were 3 months old. I have also been to Vegas for 4 days solo as well.

And I am going away with some girlfriends this summer......I think it is so important to get some alone time.

To each their own though.

Before having DS2, I would have said no thinking there is no way DS1 would survive without me! . When I had DS2, DS1 stayed with my parents for a week and they all survived! (shocking, I know). Right now I am still BF DS2 so I would not go right now but after he was a year, absolutely!!!

I would if i had the $$, vacation time, and support system to not put the additional strain on my DH.
Because you know if he were in the same situation to get away I would be like and your leaving me here all alone by myself while your on a vacation.

So I would have to be sympathetic to his needs too because there's no way he's going away on a vacation with the guys and leaving me here with the kids.
