Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
For me, personally, I would not. I don't think I would want to be in a car for 12 hours at 36 weeks, either!

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
I have no problem with the going away part ...it is the 6-hour car ride x2 ... that is a loooong time to be sitting like that - no matter how many stops you make - Cars are just not comfortable these days for me at all.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
I would...considering that so far I've had an easy pregnancy (and I think you did too) so I would definitely go.
ETA: Obviously since its a 6 hour drive, you need to consider the bathroom break and snack break stops...so it'll be more of an 8 hour trip...

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
My doctor had given me one thing to think of....
Are you OK with having your baby somewhere else if you go into labor? If you are, then I say go for it. If you are not interested in the possibility of having your baby in a hospital other than yours, then I would not go.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
I probably wouldn't just because that is so close to the end and 6 hours is a long way.

Yes, we are planning to drive up to Boston when I am 36 weeks to celebrate our anniversary for the weekend. I am sure it will be fine.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
Probably not. I would check with my MD and see what he said before making a final decision though.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
I wouldn't. That's a long time in the car, could get very uncomfortable and what if something were to happen, you would want to be near your own docs.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
Depends on the reason. Just to go, no probably not. But if it's a wedding of a close friend or some other type of reason, I would at least consider it after speaking with my doctor.

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
Ask your doctor, they will probably tell you no go.
Like a pp said, you could potentially have to give birth in a totally different hospital. Also, insurance can give you problems b/c you aren't "pre-certified" for that hospital as well, that stuff is set up way in advance.
I was living on Staten Island when I was 36 weeks and ha dto skip my family's Easter gtg in Montauk b.c my doctor told me no way jose

Re: would you go on a weekend trip...
I dont think I could sit in a car for that long now, forget about at 35 weeks. Double check with your Dr. they know you best.
