Re: Would you ever get permanent makeup?
I've actually had my eyeliner tattooed on.
I'm 26... my mom offered to pay for it when I was a senior in high school. Her thinking was 'I wish I could've gone through every day with my eyeliner on already.'
It was very subtle looking.
IT HURT LIKE BLAZES.
Unfortunately... it didn't take to my skin.
At the time, in the midwest... I think it cost like $500 and it included free touchups afterwards.
I had to go back like 2 weeks later to touch up anything that wasn't even. It looked AMAZING for like six months and then it started to fade. Drastically.
They had me come back twice to touch it up before I was like 'Eff this.' It was very painful and would have been totally worth it if it was sticking but it just wasn't for me.
My mom has it and has only had to get it touched up once in five years. She looks great. It isn't theatrical looking. I mean - they could do it that way if you wanted but ours was just very simple lid lining. I always added more on if I was going out but it was the perfect amount for waking up and looking fresh-eyed.

My mom has the permanent eyeliner. She LOVES it. It looks really natural and she is always "ready to go". Me- I wouldn't do it. But for someone that wears makeup daily like she does it was a great investment.

Absolutely not!! - especially as styles change or as your face changes or if you just want to change your look it's not a good thing IMO.

You're totally right, it's not permanant the way a regular tattoo is... you go once, then go back 2 weeks later and then you have to go about once every 1 1/2 - 2 years... but it's still SOOOO worth it for me with my missing eyebrows!!
So like I said, my 1st time was not that good. The 2nd time I went to Amy Kernahan in NYC and went again last month after 2 years for a touch up. http://amykernahan.com/
This was about 2 years ago... before & after. IMAGE
I went back last month for a touch up and this pic is from last week. IMAGE
ETA: I did eyebrows only. I can't recommend Amy enough. I did a lot of research the second time and went to several consultations & looked at endless before & afters… She did a great job. As I mentioned up close like this where you are all staring at my brows it may not look natural, but in person, no one ever knows... normally i only post pics of my @ss so I'm sure no one on here noticed before
Wow, they look GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Would you ever get permanent makeup?
I have my eyebrows tattooed- I get compliments on them all the time. My eyebrows really gives my face definition so for me it was well worth the pain & money.
I still have hair there but I don't have to worry about my arch/shape getting messed up like it used to from having different people wax/thread them.
I thought about doing the eyeliner, but I actually enjoy applying my eyeliner and switch up the thickness on a daily basis.
