i can find out the names...FM me the address.

I think I know how you will get this name, and I think it's so wrong to get someone's name that you really have no business having. The neighbors are going to wonder how on earth you got their name if you've never had a conversation with them. As a neighbor, that would be really strange to me!

I think it's a nice gesture, but wouldn't do it to be honest

I actually found their name (through my business) but didn't include it on the card. I felt like an idiot being that they never told it to me.

ETA: I don't know why it would be so wrong to know my neighbors name Chat Icon Chat Icon

Besides! This is all public information, haven't you heard of whitepages?

Many people are not listed in whitepages.

Many people are.

How do you know they just had a baby? Is there a stork indicating that in front of the house? If so... You can address the card:

Dear baby _____

I think you are a wonderful person for doing this. Very very thoughtful.

If one of my neighbors did this, I would be extremely appreciative & suprised.

Nope, no stork - just balloons!

I just wrote something like "Congratulations on the birth of your baby X. Wishing you all the best"

The boys and I are walking over now. This should be awkward as helll Chat Icon

I'm not sure why you are trying to be argumentative. Obviously you weren't looking the person up in the white pages. If they are listed, great. If they aren't, it's weird to address something to them without ever meeting them to know their name. She just said she wasn't addressing it, so it's a moot point now.

Re: Would you buy your neighbor a baby gift?

I would.

When I had DS2 we had only been in our new place for 3 months. I had 2 different neighbors stop by with gifts for the baby and for myself. One even brought dinner. It was such a nice sweet surprise and really made us feel welcomed and opened up a nice relationship with our neighbors.

Re: Would you buy your neighbor a baby gift?

My neighbor purchased us a gift when my 1st was born and we really did not know each other well. I thought it was the sweetest thing and it meant a lot to know my neighbor was being kind. I say go for it. Nothing crazy just a little outfit or something. I am sure your neighbor will really appreciate it.

Re: Would you buy your neighbor a baby gift?

We received numerous baby gifts from our neighbors and DS was born only 2 months after we moved in. I will say that they gave us the gifts in the spring (DS born in Oct) once people were out more and we had had a chance to talk to each other outside. Still, we hadn't lived there even a year. I thought it was extremely sweet and made me love our neighborhood even more.

I think it's a nice gesture. How did it go? I didn't when my neighbors had their son, but I probably should have. We do talk & I know their names.

I think its a nice thing to do. When I had at the twins our neighbors across the street got a gift and didn't think it was silly or weird, just nice.

I rarely talk to my neighbors, but if they dropped off a baby gift I would think it was very nice!

It might even break the ice between you two to be more friendly even! Chat Icon I think it's very thoughtful of you!

DH put a stork on the lawn and I was so surprised that 2 our neighbors brought gifts. Now we do talk to them though. One neighbor mailed us a card and we never met them, it was to congratulate us.
Then one of the mom's in DS's class mailed us a $15 GC and I barely see her but it was so thoughtful.

I think it would be really sweet and they would appreciate it.

Re: Would you buy your neighbor a baby gift?

I had my DD 8 weeks after moving into our home and two of my neighbors brought me gifts for her.

I would if I were you.

Edited for spelling

Actually I think that is really sweet - I think that is a great gesture and a great way to get to know them.

At our old home when I had the girls some of our neighbors dropped off small gifts. It was a nice way to meet some of them.

Re: Would you buy your neighbor a baby gift?

Im glad you did!

Our neighbors had a baby boy exactly 1 month after our DS was born. We were so excited to see the stork go up and to see it was a boy (I said to DH, they can be friends Chat Icon ) We never really spoke before just the casual wave, how are you type thing. BUt now we stop and chat a bit and she has come over for a couple of play dates. It is nice because it was a way for us to warm up to each other.
