Would you be offended?
Let's say you're involved with a charity event and have asked people to help raise money on your behalf, via online donations. The event has different locations in which people can participate....
someone posts this statement:
I'm participating at a different location....."so I guess I'll have to beg for money separately
is it me? or is this statement not insulting?

I would be bothered by that statement.
I would hope whoever is participating in the fund raiser was doing it because it meant something to them. And that statement sounds like they're being "forced" to do it.

I have been doing this walk since I'm 16!!!!!!When it was 20 miles and not 6!!!! ETA: and I will be doing it six months PG this year.
I was kidding - and I meant it as I would ask for money elsewhere and not on these boards so as not to take the money away from Team CJ...but apparently most of you thought I was insulting....
BTW, I'd like to know what it is about my past history that makes this not a joke
One more edit - My older brother is severely mentally retarded due to the fact that my mother had German Measles while PG and that's why I walk.
Hopefully, I've addressed all issues at this point.

and i already told you....
it was INSULTING - especially to the people walking in memory of CJ - doesn't matter how you 'meant' it - it was incredibly insulting and rude...and in poor taste...and judging from the responses on this thread, i'm not alone in that feeling.
(given the fact that your original post was edited by LIF, they agreed as well)

Not seeing the "whole" picture, I admit I would have been offened by what was shared in the original post.

I think it's absolutely wonderful that you walk on his behalf, and you'll be walking again this year while PG. No doubt about it.
Let me ask you this:
Had YOU started a thread with this information, asking people to support YOU and your efforts to raise money on your brother's behalf, and someone posted: "i'll have to beg for money elsewhere" (or something along those lines) - can you HONESTLY say you would NOT be offended?? You are raising money for a good cause, so for anyone to refer to it as 'begging' for money, would just be insulting and insensitive, no??

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have thought about it....but I don't really read into things that are said on threads. There have been a lot of things said to me over the years that I could have gotten hurt or insulted by, but I haven't.
That being said...I didn't intend to offend anyone, I meant it as a joke and I apologize to those I may have offended.
