Would the Church even let you? My SIL was trying to book her sons baptism and the Church has it blocked off as dates you can't use.

I don't think a church would baptize on Easter. Alot of churches don't baptize during lent as well. To answer the question though, no it is a holiday for us and I would not attend a party.

crashing, but it the baptism was for family you would be celebrating both, a holiday and special event with family and friends.

Re: Would you attend a baptism on Easter?

As others have said, I'm unsure that a church would hold a baptism on Easter. In the Catholic Church, the RCIA usually holds its baptism, and other initiation sacraments, the night before during the Vigil.

My answer is that I don't know, but probably not. If it was for someone very, very close to me, I would try to attend for at least part of the time. I cannot envision a baptism on Easter having a huge turn-out though, sorry.

No I would not attend. And I don't think the church baptizes on Easter Sunday either.

Re: Would you attend a baptism on Easter?

I remember a baptism being held at my church during either Easter mass or Palm Sunday, I forget which one.

Anyway, for a close family member yes but friend no. I spend Easter with my sister and nieces. If it was a close
Family memeber, she would be there so it'd be ok.

Only for close family like a niece or nephew. Our church also does not baptize during Lent.

Same

Even close family because for me I always have the holidays planned out to make sure we spend equal time with three sides. So I wouldn't be happy about it no matter who it was.

Yo, Jesus, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you resurrect, but my baby is going to have the best baptism of all time! One of the best baptisms of all time!

That's what would pop in my head if I got an invite to a baptism on Easter Sunday.

I am pretty laid back about attending things on holidays, like Mother's Day or 4th of July. But not a big religious holiday, no way.

I probably would attend if it was family. But I don't think the church does baptisms during Lent.

Re: Would you attend a baptism on Easter?

Probably not...if it was family that I was obligated to attend for, I would, but Easter is a holiday I like to spend with my family and within my church family.

My dh did rcia and was baptized during Easter vigil. I do not think the church would do a baptism unless it was a dire situation.

I would go if it is someone I normally spend Easter with.
