Worst Thing That Has Happened To You
What is the worst thing that has happened to you/you've had to go through in your life?
For me, I think it was my father's sudden passing.

Worst Thing That Has Happened To You
The losing of my mom. I was very close to her and I lost her within a year due to cancer. She was a pretty healthy woman, pretty active, never had surgery (well except when she gave birth to me, the umbilical cord was around my neck and also there was a piece of placenta left behind), she also never really took medicine (except for the occasional headache). Also there's no cancer history in my family and she was born and raised in an area where the environment was pretty healthy and clean. This is what puzzled us even more, that a cancer so powerful would take away a person like my mom. She often said (before getting sick) that she wouldn't be able to leave this world til I had my own family (independent, married, and with kids), all my other siblings had already done that and I was the only one left (I was still young and the last one of her 7 kids). There's not a day I don't think of her, and how happy she'd have been to see my little ones and my DH  .

Being diagnosed with diabetes at age 12. Nobody ever talked to me about how manageable it can be, and how long you can live with it. At age 12, I truly thought I wouldn't live past 18...
That's why whenever I hear about a kid being diagnosed with diabetes, I make sure either they or their parents know that I've managed pretty well for over 30 years so far, and I plan on living a very long life, and diabetes isn't a "terminal illness" (even if it does potentially shorten my life, it's not by decades...)

My mother dying in my arms after a 2 year battle with cancer. I feel blessed though, that she was not alone and that she was comforted.
2nd worst - getting the phone call that my husband was having a heart attack.

Being diagnosed with cancer at 32.
It's getting a little easier to deal with now that I'm a couple years post-treatment but outside of my doctors, DH and my "cancer buddies", no one else knows what I go through mentally.

Watching my mother have a stroke that has left her paralyzed on her right side

The very first time my daughter had a seizure. (She has a form of epilepsy). I'm isually the calm one in a crisis situation but this time I froze and lost it

Worst Thing That Has Happened To You
Seeing my son so sick last year - and not knowing what was wrong with him.
Him getting so upset and pulling out his IV leading to a severe infiltration - which could have possibly lead to the loss of use in his hand - he wasn't even 4 yet.
I still tear up when I think about it.

Having to go for a D&C after losing a baby at 14 weeks at Good Sam.
The surgical floor takes you right by the maternity ward and nursery so being wheeled up on a gurney you get to see all the babies and pregnant women waiting to give birth. While in the holding room, you get to watch all the women having c-sections being wheeled by into the surgical rooms.

Being exposed to death as young child. Losing my mom at 11, losing 2 more aunts after that by the age of 15.
Second would be the Hoboken train crash, i still have PTSD from it.

DD hospitalized at 8 weeks,
Very sudden passing of my dad, and
Seeing my best friend (sister basically) give birth to a baby girl and there being something wrong with her with no warning & no real answers. Baby ended up passing at 3 months old.

Seeing my dad suffer a traumatic brain injury that caused him to never walk again, revert to mentality of a little kid, not know who I am, or anyone basically, for 90% of the time. He was the 1st and only man I admired and look up to and was so strong and funny that it pains me to see him confined to a wheelchair needed 24 hrs assistance because he tries to walk or loses control of bladder/bowel, and my mom at 73 yrs old basically a prisoner at home taking care of him
