Ds was born dec 28and I had him out within a week. I don't believe in sitting in the house for months.

DS 1 was born on 12/21 and he was out and about as soon as I felt up to driving and going out. At 8 or 9 days old, he went out to dinner with us and after that, I started bringing him to the mall to walk so I could get out of the house.

Dd was born 2/16
Around 3/1 I started walking in the neighborhood with another lif mommy
Greatest decision I ever made - great to get out of the house and have someone to talk to
I didn't take her into restaurants or anything until 3 months

With a husband on rotating shifts and a 3 1/2 year old at home (at the time), there was no other way. Chat Icon

Immediately. DS was born 11/26. I think he took his picture with santa when he was 10 days old. I did that 1st thing in the morning on a weekday. But he went to my MIL's and other places as well before that. Dressed him appropriately and he was fine.

DS was born 12/24; I think about 2 weeks later we went to a breastfeeding support group. then after that i felt more comfortable on quick runs to BRU or BBB.

DS was born Jan 31. We were out by mid-February when I was healed enough from my c-section to feel comfortable walking distances again.

Winter Moms

DD was born Feb 8 during the ONLY blizzard we had this year so far, lol. DD was tiny when she was born, 4lbs 10oz....i didn't feel comfortable taking her out of the house until it was spring - and i think her first outing was in May. By outing I mean taking her in the stroller and walking around the neighborhood. We obviously took her wit hus to visit relatives in between, but she was always in the car and outside for the 2.5 seconds it took us to get her from the car inside.

Winter Moms

Almost a month - custom/old wives tall for my family is 40 days of rest.. however... I didn't do 40 days of rest. We went for his dr's appt and then I had a few emergencies with my mom - but we stayed home for the most part... Around the end of January beginning of February we went out more often

Re: Winter Moms

Right away for walks. About 4-6 weeks old into big stores with lots of circulation and high ceilings. First family outing with lots of people was about 8 weeks old.

The flu was exceptionally bad last year so I was a little more conservative.

Re: Winter Moms

Right away. My daughter was born feb 20 and we went out a few days later to the dr, the mall, Target. Places where people are not on top of each other. Also for walks when it wasn't that cold or windy out. It's good to get out...even if its just for a walk around the block.
