winter coat question
Where did you get your winter coat, and what type did you get? DD is 9 months, so not sure if I should get her a big puffy jacket, or just dress her in layers over the winter. I live in the city, so will be doing a lot of stroller walks over the winter. Last winter, we stuck her in the baby ganoosh (similar to the bundle me) but not sure if that's typical for older infants.

winter coat question
My DD was 5-7 months her first winter and I bought her a one-piece fleece snowsuit-style outfit from Old Navy. It was very warm, but still thin for the carseat.
She also had a winter parka from Gap that we used for walks, and JJ Cole has a Bundle Me type footmuff for strollers.

Re: winter coat question
I love the gap warmest jacket, the puffer coat from carters and if money is not an object then the northface coat. I would get a hat and mittens as soon as they come out too in a couple of different sizes. I would also size up for the coat or buy two of them because your DC will likely go up a size in the middle of winter and need a new one but only bathing suits will be out by the time you need it. eta: I loved my bundle me foot muff for the stroller. It was so convenient.

Re: winter coat question
Remember when it comes to a winter coat and an infant you must keep in mint transportation in the car seat. The real answer here is not to buy a winter coat, especially a puffy one.
Best way to actually dress your baby in relation to car seats is a nice jacket or sweat shirt like you would in the fall or spring and then use a blanket. Your car has heat, your house has heat, the mall, your parents house all have heat. The exposure to the outside is minimal.

Sorry I missed you live in the city - in that case I will defer to the last person with respect to ideas. BUT if you do use a car seat - leave the coat home.

this jacket we have used for the last 2 years. the same one too. We def got our money's worth and its great. I used to take off the outer shell and leave the fleece on for the carseat. and she was warm and they are cute and a little cheaper than childen's place. She outgrew it by the end last year so we will be getting a new one this year.

Re: winter coat question
Carters makes a super warm jacket that has teddy bear ears on it. It's like a sherpa material. That thing is so warm. And the BundleMe over the stroller is fabulous. Keeps DD toasty warm.

winter coat question
When they get in the car you take the coat off and put it back on when you get out of car. I know annoying but its still bitter cold to be dragging a baby in and out of the car when your not going in a garage. Thats what my friends do and thats what I will do.
Also jj cole makes a bundle me for toddlers 1-3 I was looking at that for my stroller as well. And Im gonna get a puffer jacket as well. Havent seen any i am absolutely in love with. my dd is petite and I felt the Gap puffy jacket dont fit her well. The sleeves are WAY too long and the 12-18 is too small she will outgrow it soon but the 18-24 was HUGE on her and I dont see her growing into it.
Osh kosh had a few cute ones and macys. Im gonna wait a lil longer to see what else comes out.

Re: winter coat question
DS first year I didn't have a winter coat for him. We had a snowsuit bunting thing that we put on him when we went outside in the snow. Otherwise, we weren't really out for long periods of time-out to a warm car with carrier cover, back into warm building - so it seems like a waste. If we were going to bring him out in the stroller, he was in the snap-n-go with the car seat pretty much the whole winter so we would just use a blanket and the cover.

winter coat question
I work in lower Manhattan and see a lot kids in a Bundle Me type thing when they are out and about. I'm not sure of the brand but, they do make a Bundle Me that's toddler sized.
