WHY is it news who Spitzers ***** was?
Do we have to know every detail of her Myspace page and what she has for breakfast? This is exactly whats wrong with American news media....this isn't about who she is....its about what HE did!

We live in a society that DEMANDS information - there's no way her identity was not going to be revealed.
I think there will be charges against her and the escort service but the focus has been on the governor since his activities are what brought this whole operation to light.

I think its both their faults. His responsiblity is of course bigger because of his position as governer. But the hooker isn't blameless either. Her "job" is illegal, just like a drug dealer. She works because there is a demand for her services.

I don't think that is the case here. If she were his mistress, I would agree with you. But she was a prostitute.
So following your logic, a drug dealer isn't to blame when people get addicted or OD because he/she is just doing his job.
For me, the issue is that the "job" is illegal. So by "just doing her job" as you say, she was committing an illegal act.
Now again, I am not saying that he is blameless. He is more to blame because (1) he was the governer and (2) he was seeking her services. But still, she isn't blameless- and it doesn't matter if she were a man or a woman. I feel the same way about male prostitutes. Her job is an illegal one, so she is to blame here as well.

I am so glad this was posted. I am SPITTING MAD about this.
I think it's disgusting on SO MANY LEVELS.
One, why do we need to know or care WHO she is?
two, the idea that we have given catch phrases like "lov gov" and "govs girl" to something that is supposed to be such a serious issue!? it's now got the Brangelina/Bennifer route and is just news to feed to the hungry masses!
three, how can we call ourselves the "moral" right and say how destructive and damaging prostitution, but then want all the seedy details? how can we call ourselves "good" and then make our media believe that we want to see not only one man's family dying of shame and embarrassment, but now another.
whatever you think of prostitution and what this girl did, does her family now deserve to be publicly shamed, humiliated, and embarrassed? does her grandmother/father/mother/uncle/little sister/brother ALSO deserve to have to face their friends/colleagues/and assoicates with this all in their faces?
HOW DISGUSTING ARE WE as a people? or, in the very least HOW DISGUSTING does the MEDIA think we are?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
